We can get your 2019 Ram 2500 short bed with RamBoxes set up with a 5th wheel hitch, and you'll need a fixed hitch instead of a slider because your 5th wheel trailer will require a Sidewinder rotating pin box. A Sidewinder moves the pivot point from the hitch jaws to the turret, and without it you won't be able to make turns because a standard pin box will contact your RamBoxes.
That said, since you asked for options, for a 5th wheel hitch, here is one that I highly recommend for a light 5th wheel trailer:
- B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3200
This has a 16,000 lb capacity and will work with a lighter 5th wheel, and is very high quality. I'd personally go with the Patriot for overall quality. B&W is known for making the most well-constructed towing products, including their 5th wheel hitches, and the Patriot is no exception due to its brawny steel construction and especially its 3/4" thick jaws. That hefty jaw thickness is important as it helps ensure they remain totally stable around the king pin, and they are also designed to be extremely tight with full king pin contact.
What that does is ensure the there will be less back and forth movement of the king pin inside the jaws, for a stable, quieter ride than other hitches. If you need a 5th wheel wiring kit the correct part is the Curt Curt # C56070. And to use either hitch, your '19 Ram 2500 will also need base rails, and the best option for that is a no-drill kit, the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ram Truck - Carbide Finish # C16427-204.
The Sidewinder will depend on the pin box model it is replacing; if it is Lippert 1716, 1116, and 0115 you'll need Reese Sidewinder # RP77FR. You will also need a wedge for the hitch, and the B&W needs Wedge # RP74FR.

With the recent concerns about fifth wheel frame flex and issues around stress at the pin box, is the Sidewinder recommendation above for RAM 2500 6.5 ft beds with RAM Box sides still your best option? My concern is that the Sidewinder may not fit the fifth wheel I want to purchase (an Alliance Avenue unit) and that the stress of offsetting the pin box load may create an extended lever effect and cause too much stress on the forward frame section, where a sliding collar system would not cause such stress on my trailer frame. Thank you.
