If you like keeping your ride looking stock when it’s not being towed, this setup makes that easy. The black powder-coated steel brackets sit far back on the frame, so once you pull the removable drawbars, there’s almost nothing visible from the front. The streamlined design eliminates the bulk of a quick-disconnect crossbar, giving you a clean grille line and no parts to bump your knees on when you’re walking by.
Connecting and disconnecting shouldn’t be a wrestling match. Each arm slides straight into the bracket, twists to lock, and clicks solidly in place. When it’s time to unhook, just pull the built-in ring to release the lock, twist back, and remove the arm. The direct-connect setup keeps everything secure while making it simple enough for one person to handle.
This kit bolts directly to the vehicle frame with no welding required. The computer-cut steel ensures a precise fit for consistent strength across both sides of the chassis. The heavy-duty all-steel build and corrosion-resistant black powder coat mean it’s ready for long hauls and rough weather without flexing or rusting out over time.
No need to juggle multiple brands—this base plate pairs directly with Roadmaster motor-home-mounted tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, including the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, and Falcon 2 models. That compatibility means your whole towing system connects cleanly without extra adapters or guesswork.
If you like turning wrenches in your own garage, this kit won’t slow you down. It mounts on factory frame points and needs no welding—just standard tools and some careful alignment. All mounting hardware and instructions come in the box so you can get it fitted up right for your next trip.
Note: Roadmaster direct-connect base plates will only work with Roadmaster tow bars that slide into a trailer hitch, such as the Nighthawk, Sterling, Blackhawk, Blackhawk 2, Falcon, or Falcon 2. These base plates will not work with tow bars that require a hitch ball.

Bought this hitch for my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Works great. Pulls well. You have to take the front facia off to install, but can be done by two people with experience in a few hours.
has worked ok. it is hard to disconnect at times . the bars get stuck. once i had to call AAA just to get help
In the video they didn’t really let us know how hard it was to drill the holes in the bumper. We took ours off and took it to a machine shop to get the holes drilled.
fit right on my 2018 ford focus and works great. quality product. easy connect and disconnect
Well so far the base plate has been received and packaging was excellent as was speed of shipment. I have not yet put it on the Grand Cherokee - a bit too much snow. So as soon I complete that job I'll do a follow up post with some pictures.
Perfect fit. Appears stronger than competitor products. Less obvious modification to tow vehicle than many other products. We have nearly 10,000 miles of towing on this unit. 100% satisfied.
Product was delivered as said and in great shape.
Very happy with the selection, customer service and product quality. They truly care about their customers and provide quality products.
Works great
Perfect I love how easy the Direct-Connect base plate is compared to the crossbar style.
The videos provided by etrailer made the installation smooth and predictable. This is a good, solid product that has kept my Jeep behind my coach for over 2,000 miles so far.
Product is performing well. Only complaint is that the only location for the brake switch in the cabin of my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is near my emergency brake pedal.
Good quality. I especially like all the videos made by etrailer on installation. I use this site primarily because of the great videos
Installation is much more involved than instruction lead u to believe. Individual must be very mechanical and have a good selection of tools. Product is a very good quality.
The item was to be delivered the 24th. The first set of tow bars didn't arrive with my original order. Your people told me that set would fit my Jeep Cherokee. I called, and they sent out another set. After my guy dismantled my Jeep, we discovered it would not fit. It seems your employee sent one for a Cherokee, not a Grand Cherokee. I called again, got a return for that set, and I ordered one to fit. This one was supposed to arrive the 24th, delaying my trip. I called the morning of the 24th. On the 20th, it was in stock and I was told would be there the 24th. The email I got said it would arrive May 1st. I called, and your representative said he'd contact shipping, and I asked for a return call, TO NO AVAIL. Rather than lose several thousand dollars in reservations, I left on my trip the 25th (with my Jeep dismantled at home), and my 80 year old mother was following me in my RV. Two days, and it has not gone well with not keeping up and getting lost because she can't do Google maps. I'm now looking for a flatbed uHaul trailer to tow her car. AND...I guess I'd better call someone to get the NOW DELIVERED PACKAGE off my doorstep before someone steals it. Had I gotten a call back, I could have canceled the order or sent it to a friend's address. No, I am not pleased with your service. AND... receiving the return invoice, you were charging me the $xx shipping. I had to call about that, as well.
Great kit after I figured out the Grand Cherokee TrailHawk was not the same as a Cherokee.
Base plate delivered on time. Instructions were very clear and correct. installation time about 3.5 hours working alone. Excellent product.

Great, no issues
I uses this base plate set up with the Roadmaster nighhawk tow bar. It was easy to install and easy to connect to the tow bar. No issues or complaints after the first year of use.

One year in the base plate set up has been flawless. A little bit of touch up paint from the salt hitting it and its looks like new.
Thank you for speaking with my mechanic to confirm the correct part was ordered.
This was an easy install for the bracket attaching to my Grand Cherokee. To be fair it took about 10 hours but this is including the wiring for the lights and I was pretty anal about the routings making extra sure of no pinching points, etc. This was my first time ever doing such. Instructions are good and you need to take your time. This is a high quality product that I would recommend to a friend. I used my Armada to do a test tow to make sure everything worked properly. Thumbs up on the test drive.
great fit, instructions were helpful
Works very well. Easy to use. This Jeep had OEM chrome tow hooks that had to be removed. Didn’t care for the look of the bare faceplate; So fabricated chrome hook fixtures that fit into the blank face plate when not towing.
Was delivered quickly and I was able to install the baseplate assembly relatively easily after having watched a few of the etrailer videos. I did watch multiple different videos as my 2022 Grand Cherokee WK had slight variations from the videos. I did not have previous experience doing this type of automotive work so I will admit to some trepidation along the way but all ended perfectly. My wife was not too happy about me taking the bumper off of her new car with just 100 miles on it but she has regrouped. The only thing I used the written instructions for was to get the parts all organized and to get the correct torque for the bolts
It was shipped promply. I installed it myself using the included step by step instructions and videos from etrailer. It all went well (though I had to come back and reconnect the sensor plug- my bad).
I tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and this base plate is nearly invisible when not towing. Works well.

It is working out well. No issues at all. Base plate is secure and still in good shape. Probably have only put around 2000 miles on over the year.
