Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2015 Dodge Durango

Today on our 2015 Dodge Durango, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit with removable arms. Part number RM-521449-4. This is what the base plate looks like when it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, there isn't a whole lot that sticks out really far. Right here we just got the wiring sticking out for our wiring that's able to mount to these little brackets that are part of it right there. You got a little hook on either side for your safety chains, and right here, is where the arms for the base plate with the brackets on the end go into place.

Dodge Durango Base Plates Questions and Answers

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2018 Dodge Durango R/T AWD behind an RV
  • The Roadmaster base plates will not fit the 2018 Dodge Durango R/T but Blue Ox does not have an exclusion like that for their base plates, # BX2411, which also fit the 2018 Durango. For a compatible tow bar that comes with safety cables I recommend the Alpha, # BX7365. It is rated for 6,500 pounds. For lighting the most popular option is diode kit # RM-15267 but you could also use a magnetic kit such as # C-ATL20A. You may also need a high/low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I...

  • Parts Needed to Equip 2015 Dodge Durango Citadel AWD for Flat Towing Behind Motorhome
  • To flat tow a vehicle behind a motorhome, safely and legally, requires a few components. These include a tow bar, high/low hitch adapter, safety cables, a lighting/wiring solution of one kind or another, and base plates and a braking system for the towed car. Each of these is discussed in the linked article on the basics of flat towing, and the other two articles deal with hitch adapters and braking systems specifically. A review of these resources is a great place to start. I can offer...

  • Blue Ox Parts Recommendation to Flat Tow a 2015 Dodge Durango All Wheel Drive
  • You are on the right track. You will need a base plate confirmed to fit your 2015 Dodge Durango AWD with adaptive cruise control and the # BX2411 has been confirmed as a fit. You will also need a tow bar to provide the connection from the Durango to your tow vehicle. For that the most popular option we carry is the Blue Ox Alpha part # BX7365. For lighting you can use the bulb and socket kit, # RM-152, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. You will also...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2004 Dodge Durango and Adapt Blue Ox Base Plates to Roadmaster Tow Bar
  • There is an adapter for using Blue Ox base plates, # BX1967, with Roadmaster tow bars. You would use # RM-031. Or you could skip the adapter and get matching parts by using the Roadmaster base plates, # 52273-1 that you have referenced. In addition to the base plates and tow bar you will also need lighting. I recommend the bulb and socket kit, # RM-155, because you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring for installation. You will also need safety cables like # RM-643. The...

  • Can 2000 Dodge Durango with 5.9 Liter be Flat Towed
  • I did some checking on your 2000 Dodge Durango and found that it is flat towable. If it's a 4 wheel drive model it's good to go as long as you follow the guidelines in the manual, if it's a 2 wheel drive you'll need to use a driveshaft disconnect. For a base plate kit you'd then want the part # 246-5. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow...
