Getting the height right makes all the difference for smooth towing. This Curt ball mount gives you a 6" drop or, when flipped, a 5" rise so you can dial in a level trailer no matter what you’re pulling. The shank slides into a 2" x 2" receiver and sets the ball platform at the right height to keep your load stable and your tow line even.
When you’re hauling heavy gear, you want something that’s up for the job. This mount is tested for safety in accordance with SAE J684 and is rated for 8,000 lbs gross towing weight and 800 lbs tongue weight. It’s a dependable fixed setup that’s strong enough for most trailer sizes without adding bulk or extra parts.
You don’t need steel to get serious strength. The solid aluminum build keeps this mount light but tough, resisting rust and corrosion naturally without any coating to maintain. It’s the kind of gear you can leave on through weather changes and know it’ll still look and perform like new.
For most hauls, simple wins. This fixed ball mount has an 8-1/2" length from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, giving plenty of room for easy hookup. It fits trailer balls with a 1" diameter shank and uses a 5/8" hitch pin (sold separately). Once it’s pinned in place, it stays put—no adjusting, no rattling, just reliable towing every time.

I keep this in the back of the SUV and we only use it once in a while. Happy to pay the extra for the aluminum build, makes a big difference in weight.
Did not fit 1" ball, was too narrow for Curt Rocker Ball
so far, this has been a no issue tow bar for my little 1500 lb. trailer. coupled it with a stainless ball to acheive a nice look for on the back of my all white truck.
Do not order! 2 major issues: The 1" shank hole is not 1", I tried inserting two different 1" shank balls and neither would easily slide thru the 1" mounting hole. But just as worse, the hole was not drilled vertically straight. I was finally able to get the ball shank through the 1" hole but it was very clearly visible that the ball shaft was not perpendicular to the mounting surface. I'll have to discard since etrailer only accepts unused items. Very expensive mistake since I also ordered the Curt "Rockerball" which was also a total disappointment for several reasons. I will never order Curt products again

Yes the trailer, ball hitch and battery you installed worked great. It has served us well and you did a great job.
It is lighter than my cast iron.
Shipping was quick . box delivered with hole in it but hitch was not harmed bubble wrap saved it.

great product. No problems pulling my sixteen foot Cargo trailer.hauling three dirt bikes and camping equipment.
It appears to be well made, but it is very loose in the receiver and very noisy. I purchased an Anti-rattle hitch clamp locally, and I hope it does the trick. It does make me question the quality of the product. I have to start to drive about 3K miles in the next couple days, and that rattling from the ball mount would drive me crazy.

An anti-rattle device should do the trick. If the one you purchased does not work out for you, we have several here at etrailer including Item # e99007.
Very high quality product. Actually needed hitch for the rise position on a low car hitch to tow a U-Haul. (they U Haul, suggest a 18" ball height) Light weight with the same strength as a steel rustable hitch! Heck aircraft are made of Alum. must handle a trailer tow.

Ausum I had aluminum hitches in the past. Very clean and made stronger
I was a little skeptical about getting an aluminum ball mount, but it is really great quality and will never rust, so I'm not disappointed.

Hey Val. Would you be able to confirm what is stamped on the top of the rocker ball? I checked into your order and I see you got part # C40047. Which should have a 1" shank. However, Curt also has part # C29FR, which would have a 1-1/4 shank. Let me know and I can get this resolved for ya.
