Question:
Im looking into getting an aluminum hitch ball mount to avoid storing a rusty ball mount in my Highlander, as well as for the light weight. Ill only be using it for a 2-place snowmobile trailer I have. I was also thinking about getting a stainless steel ball, again to minimize rust. However, do I have to worry about corrosion with having aluminum in contact with stainless steel?

Yes, you can absolutely use an aluminum ball mount with a stainless steel hitch ball without worry of the ball mount corroding. In fact, there are no aluminum hitch balls so manufacturers suggest the use of stainless steel as it is going to be the best option work in conjunction with an aluminum ball mount. So what you will need depends on the rise or drop your trailer requires:
- 1" Rise, 2" Drop: Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C74WR
- 3" Rise, 4" Drop: Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C84WR
- 5" Rise, 6" Drop: Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C24WR
Then for a stainless steel hitch ball the correct fit for these ball mounts are the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # SC30-C or 2" Hitch Ball # SC23-C.
To secure the ball mount to your hitch you can use either the Hitch Pin for 2" Hitches # ML1465DAT or Hitch Lock # e98882.
