Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at the mounting brackets for your awnings. This is made by Rhino-Rack as a universal awning bracket, it is going to be the large size, and we'll take a look at its specs and how it can be used here at etrailer. With this kit, you're gonna have your two metal brackets as well as your mounting hardware. Now, you don't need to use all of this hardware, you only need to use one choice, this does give you different options for different situations. So your options are between the four square T-bolts as well as the four long T-bolts. These are usually used for your Pioneer platform and these are usually used for your T-track crossbars, you also have the appropriate washers as well as nuts.
Not included, but very necessary is a 13 millimeter wrench to tighten them down. So whichever hardware you choose, they just slide into the T-track channel on your crossbar or the C-channel on your platform. Once it's in there, you can just actually figure out or choose whichever configuration you want. Here's some measurements. Four holes on the bracket, each hole is two inches apart.
Now, the height of the bracket is going to be about 4 3/8 of an inch, as well as the length of the bracket is going to be 3 1/4 inches. So with those measurements, you can then see which is the best place for you to put your awning, so whether it's underneath the tracks, which is common for ladder racks as well as some crossbars that have a track system underneath, or maybe you have other accessories and you wanna make sure that the top of your crossbar is still accessible, so then you mount your awning downwards. Depending on your awning like I have the Dome 1300 awning here, you can see where it slides into the tracks. So for example, with this awning, I measure two inches above to see how much clearance I have for accessories, and then two inches below where the hardware is mounted to see how much space I have for roof clearance. This is gonna be made of a powder coated galvanized steel, so it's actually a little more sturdy than the factory hardware that came with some of the awnings.
If you wanna use this with some of your other awnings, you know that it'll be corrosion resistant when it's out and about in the sun and the rain, and it will hold up to the elements. So whether you're using a Rhino-Rack awning or another awning that utilizes a track system, hopefully, this video helped you out with seeing if this will work for your situation, your roof rack, ladder rack, or platform. But this was a look at your universal brackets for your Rhino-Rack awnings in the large size here at etrailer.com..
Work great. Simple install
The product came as advertised. My application was slightly different, attaching a James Baroud awning to an AEV roof rack (which is very similar to the Pioneer). Product worked well attaching to the rack’s slots but I did have to drill a new hole for the Baroud awning as the spacing was different. All in all it has worked out well and anyone with a Baroud awning can easily modify this to work.
I have Yakima racks the universal brackets and mounting hardware fit great no issues.
Thanks to Stacey at etrailerfor pointing me in the right direction! I mounted my Ironman Awning to the Rhino Rack with this kit. Perfect fit.
