2-1/2" Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank Dimensions

Updated 10/07/2026 | Published 10/05/2026

Question:

Im replacing the 2inch shank with a 2 1/2. This is for an equ-i-zer setup. Can you tell me the measurements of the top of the hitch shank to the top of the rise. Mine is currently 6“. Can I also get the measure from the from the top of the hitch to the middle of the top 3/4inch hole?

Thanks for letting us help Keith. For the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # FA88FR, the distance from the top of the receiver shank to the top of the vertical mounting shank is 7" when installed in the rise position. From the top of the vertical mounting shank to the center of the first adjustment hole, the measurement is 1-5/8". This measurement is the same from either end of the vertical shank to the center of the nearest hole.

The adjustment holes are spaced the standard 1-1/4" apart on center, and each mounting hole has a 3/4" diameter. I've included a graphic that also shows these measurements.

Are you setting up a new truck with a 2-1/2" receiver?

Same truck, but we increased the height of the trailer. I also want to eliminate the 2" to 2 1/2" adapter. The 16" long will give me room to drop the tailgate. A shorter unit with the 2 1/2" hitch receiver and a little more rise would be ideal. Still looking for the perfect shank.

@KeithH Gotcha. What is the distance on your existing shank from the center of your receiver hitch pin hole to the center of the mounting holes on the vertical shank? The overall length on the # FA88FR is 16" but from the hitch pin hole to the adjustment holes is 12" on center.

The distance is currently 8" center of Holes. I think I found a 10" rise that will work. How is the rise measured? From what pointto what point?

@Keith It's essentially the distance between where the top of the weight distribution head or base of the ball will be in relation to the top of the receiver shank. That's why you get different rise and drop measurements out of the same shank. I can't attach photos here but if you take a look at the " in use/installed" photos on # C17123 there's some good examples. What shank are you looking at?
