Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Lippert self-adjusting electric trailer brake assembly. This is going to be a left-hand or driver's side electric brake assembly for a 4,400-pound capacity axle. This does sit right at 10 inches from the outside edge of one brake pad to the outside edge of the other brake pad, and then our width, we're at two and 1/4 of an inch on those brake pads, so this will work with most standard hub and drum assemblies including Lippert. This will work on your wheels that are 13 inches to 15 inches in diameter, and this is going to have a four-bolt brake flange configuration, so you can see it will be very easy to get mounted onto your axle with that portable brake flange. This does install much easier and offer more user control than you would get with a hydraulic brake that you don't have to worry about a brake actuator or hydraulic lines with this kind of electric brake.

You only require a brake controller or an electric brake controller. We do sell those separately here on our website. It's not included. On the backside here, you can see we've got the two wires. One wire is going to go to the ground.

The other is going to your brake feed for power. It doesn't matter which wire you use for which function. They're both red so you don't have to worry about getting them mixed up. The mounting hardware for this is not included. We do sell it separately here at etrailer.com.

One thing I wanna point out is that this is a self-adjusting brake assembly and you can tell that by the wire that we have running down here to our lever. That cable is going to adjust the brakes automatically as we apply them and that's going to help deliver optimum performance and better braking power. We're not gonna need to manually adjust after we get the initial adjustment set up. For that initial adjustment, there are adjuster access holes down here. That will allow you to go in there and make that initial adjustment, and then they do have these included plugs that cover those access holes to help keep dirt and grime out of the assemblies and off your shoes.

These brake shoes are lined with an automotive-grade friction material. That friction material is fully bonded to the shoe. It's not riveted so it is going to give you a much longer life and more braking torque. These are going to, like I said, this assembly is for the driver's side or the left-hand side. If you are working with multiple assemblies and trying to figure out how to tell one from the other, easy way to tell is that the shorter brake pad is going to always face the front. You can see here, this is our shorter pad so that is going to face the front when we have this installed, and that is our primary pad. That's an easy way to tell which way your brake should be facing.
