Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

Replacement Shoe and Lining Kit for Manual Adjusting 10" Electric Brake Assembly - 3,500 lbs - AKBRKR-S-10

Replace the brake shoes and lining on your 10" diameter x 2-1/4" thick manual-adjust, electric trailer brake assembly. Fits brakes designed for 3,500-lb axles. Includes hold-down clips.

It’s really too early to give a full objective review of the brake shoes, but the product looks good and mostly met the requirements for a replacement part. Their was a small detail with the top spring ,in that the holes in the shoes were too small to accommodate a complete fit. I had to grind down the end of the spring to make it work. Time will tell on how the shoes wear and for how long.

I have consulted with our installers and they have confirmed that there is a specific way that these shoes are supposed to be installed. In order for the springs to fit properly, you will need to the springs before adjusting the brake shoes to the hubs. What we do suggest is to replace that spring you have grinded with part # AKBRKR-SP
Replacement Spring Kit for 10" and 12" Manual-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies
in order to prevent any defects in the braking assembly.

We were told by an etrailer representative that these would fit my camper and they didn’t. Then when I went to return I have to pay shipping and I was charged by etrailer double what it would have cost me to ship them back myself.

I am happy to have the order reviewed for you. Customer service will be in touch.
-- Etrailer Expert Jenny N - 09/21/2022

The product arrived on time and in perfect condition. The brake shoes were an identical match to my original shoes and installation was completed without any issues. I appreciated that etrailer notified me when my order had been received and again when it had shipped, along with tracking information.

The brake shoes fit perfectly and the price was reasonable.

Great information on your website to help with determining the right part for your trailer. The parts shipped quickly and had them installed on my trailer in no time. The parts are an exact match for my 2017 Grand Design trailer. They work perfectly and I will be using etrailer when I need to replace or upgrade my brakes in the future.

Received parts today. All were correct as ordered. Look forward to easy installation

Great replacement, old ones were cracked. These are on a 99 trailer, haven't pulled it since replacing, so hope I got the adjustment correct as these are not self adjusting. Great company

Worked great and were easy to install.

Perfect fit and seem to be of good qual ity

the shoes were wrong spring would not work used old shoes over still good.

quality Parts, fast shipping, fair price.
thanks Johnny

a year later review… about 25,000 miles on the trailer and I use near maximal trailer brake (just under where it will lock up the wheels) all the time. Though most driving is interstate much is going down mountains and I do not have exhaust brakes, so I probably am abusive to these.
I took one drum off a few months ago and everything looked fine and there was not much wear that I could tell. No complaints.

Customer service is knowledgeable, they helped me find the brake shoes for my trailer.

Just received today. I have already installed and tested them on my 16' tandem axle utility trailer with Dexter 3500# axles. They fit perfectly. I used all my existing hardware as it was still in good shape. I hope they last as long as the OEM shoes. My local part store did not have these in stock. They could have gotten them in the next day, but were $30 more than! Fast shipping. I got them less than 48 hours after ordering. The online video was helpful to know which shoe went to the front and which to the back. Thanks etrailer!

It was a fine product that fit well and worked as it should.

Still working as it should.
Grace M - 07/20/2021

Needed trailer brake parts and etrailer had the best description of the products and prices. I like the fact that the parts are very well explained with dimensions so that you can order the proper part the first order.

Good shipping, hassle free transaction.

All the parts were there and fit just like they were supposed to. Didn't think to take any pics, sorry

I appreciate you keeping me informed as always. I am 85 yrs old so it will take me awhile to get these installed. One wheel brake per day. They should last me until i'm 95, then I won't to much care.. The linings look professionally installed on the shoes. If you need some spare shoes, let me know.

Worked good for me. Significant work involved, but that is just the nature of replacing brakes.

Received my order from your company, All parts were in the box that I ordered and were in good shape. Everything worked out great. And I will be using e trailer again in the near future. Thank you

Super fast shipping, these brake shoes will fit perfectly on my camper.

Perfect fit on my Big Tex P70I trailer and super fast shipping. Thanks

Excellent fit. Enjoy dealing with etrailer. Always have what I need at reasonable prices and quick shipping.

Excellent service and very happy with the quality of the products.

The etrailer team helped me identify the correct brake shoes for my old trailer over the phone, when I had no part number or manufacturer to give them as a reference. Two days later I had the parts and the shoes were a perfect match and the job was finished in 30 minutes.

Great job Donna and George!

Works great!
Dave H - 10/08/2019

Fit was great. Old shoes were not worn out, but one of the linings had separated. Removed old shoes cleaned up the springs and parts and reassembled. Piece of cake!

I reached out to Scamp for help to find your exact brakes, unfortunately due to the age of your 2000 Scamp 19 Everglades they did not have the exact information or parts available and the only thing that they could tell me is your trailer uses 10" brakes. • Replacement Brake Shoes and Complete Brake Assemblies for Axle Tek 12 x 2-Inch Trailer Brakes
If you had an accidental grease leak within your trailer's hub/drums and the shoes were exposed to grease you will want to replace them. The brake shoe material has porosity that will let some of that wheel bearing grease work into the surface. It is not possible to completely clean this grease off. You can clean the drums but either the brake shoes or the entire brake assemblies should be replaced. I checked your ordering history and found that you have 12 x 2-inch Axle Tek brakes rated...

Replacement drum shoes are determined by the hub size. Based on the GVWR of your 2016 Jayco slx 264bhw with dual axles and the 15 inch factory wheel size, you will definitely have 10 inch hubs. • Why do Brake Pads on 3,500 lb Brakes Crack and Should They be Replaced
Brake shoes and linings (the brake pads) will crack for a number of reasons, mostly due to wear, but also dependant on the quality of the material. For example, some brake pads, such as those on the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35 are cut to length, while others are simply snapped off at intervals. Pads which are cut to length are going to see less cracking and outright wear in the material. If you do see cracking, you definitely want to replace the shoe and lining, or replace...
