Video Transcript for Replacement Brake Shoes for Dexter 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Brake: The Breakdown

Today we're going to take a look at the replacement right hand brake shoes for the Dexter 10 inch Never Adjust Electric Brakes. Now these replacement shoes will fit the Dexter Never Adjust Electric Trailer Brakes with the following specs, they are designed to fit on the brake assembly size of 10 inch diameter by 2 and a quarter inch thick and that measurement, when you measure it when these are installed on your backing plate, the diameter of 10 inches would be measured from this side to this side. If you put a ruler on it and you measure them that would be 10 inches. The 2 and a quarter would be the width of the pad itself, 2 and a quarter. It is designed to fit axle ratings up to 3,500 pounds and this is the right hand passenger side configuration and the way you can tell that on the Never Adjust Brakes, the Never Adjust Brakes are brakes that are adjusted on installation and then it will adjust automatically after that. Basically they'll have this pulley right here that the cable will go through and attaches to the lever and then it does the automatically adjusting. This pulley will always be facing out so you will know this one is going to have to face out so basically if you look at the size of the shoe on the pad, you'll see one is longer, this one is longer and this one is shorter.

The shorter one is the primary shoe so that will always go in the front so with that in the front and this having to face out you'll know that this will go like this and then you'll know that it's there right handed passenger side assembly. That does include, also, the hold down springs and pins that will be used to attach this to the backing plate of your trailer but that should do it for the review on the replacement right hand brake shoes for Dexter 10 Inch Never Adjust Electric Brakes.

  • Replacement Brake Shoes for Electric Brakes
The brake shoes you need are going to depend on the diameter of your current assemblies and the weight capacity of your axle. The # AKBRKR-S-10 are replacement brake shoes for 10" diameter x 2-1/4" thick manual-adjust, electric trailer brake assemblies on a 3,500 lb axle. I took a look at the previous assemblies you purchased, and they were 7" assemblies for 2,000 lb axles. Since yours are automatic adjusting, the correct brake shoes would be # AKBRKR-S-7 which are for 7" diameter x 1-1/4"...

  • Replacement Hub/Drum And Brake Assembly Components For A 2013 Cruiser RV Fun Finder X X-262BHS
Hey Rahn, The Lippert 126003 hub assembly is the same as the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 # AKHD-545-35-K and would use inner bearing # L68149, outer bearing # L44649, and grease seal # 58846. If you're wanting to just replace the shoes you can use part # AKBRKR-S-10 for manual-adjust assemblies or Right Hand # K71-682 and Left Hand # K71-681 for never-adjust/self-adjusting brake assemblies. If you just want to swap out the whole brake assembly...

  • Availability Of Replacement Brake Shoes For 3,500lb Dexter Brake Assemblies
We do have brake shoes for a 3,500lb Dexter brake assembly, but the 12" x 2" is not going to work as you have 10" brakes. Instead you'll need the Dexter # K71-681 for the left side and # K71-682 for the right side if you have the self adjusting brakes, or # AKBRKR-S-10 if you have standard manual adjust brakes. However it isn't much more to just replace the entire assembly with the self adjusting kits # AKEBRK-35-SA, which tends to be a better idea because chances are if the shoes on...

  • Will 10 x 2-1/4 Inch Trailer Brake Shoe Pads Part BP04-095 Fit 10-Inch Nev-R Adjust Brake Assembly
Thanks for sending us a picture! The 10 x 2-1/4 inch trailer brake shoe pads part # BP04-095 you referenced only works with the manual adjust brake assembly. What you need is the left hand shoe lining # K71-681 and/or right hand shoe lining # K71-682 to fit the Dexter 10-inch Nev-R adjust brake assemblies. What I recommend instead of buying the replacement shoe liners, is replacing the entire brake assembly with part # 23-469 (right hand) or # 23-468 (left hand). The reason is because...

  • Replacement Pads/Shoes for 10 Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies
Yes, we do have the replacement brake pads (also known as shoes) for the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # 23-469 (right hand) as well as part # 23-468 (left hand). These are found as parts # K71-682 and # K71-681 respectfully. Please note that it is typically more cost effective to swap out the whole brake assembly. Another perk to doing this is that you can be confident that other internal components aren't excessively worn down from prolonged use.

  • Why Aren't Left and Right Hand Brake Shoes the Same on Trailers
Left and right hand brake assemblies are mirrored versions of each other and since these shoes # K71-682 have a roller/guide for the adjustment cable they can only install on the right hand side. Other assemblies will have a shorter shoe on one side than other too.

  • Replacement Brake Shoes for Dexter 10 inch Self Adjusting Brake Assemblies
For the 10 inch self-adjusting brake assemblies part # 23-468-469 that you referenced the correct replacement shoes would be the # K71-682 for the right hand and part # K71-681 for the left hand side.

Let's start with the brake shoes, and there are replacement brake shoes for the Dexter 10" x 2-1/4" electric brakes, but they do need to be the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust, self-adjusting brakes. • Brake Pad Thickness of New Dexter 3,500 lb Brake Assembly
I went out into our warehouse to measure the pad thickness of a Dexter 3,500 10 by 2-1/4 inch brake assembly like the part # 23-468 and just the brake pad portion of the shoe measured .18 of an inch. The entire shoe thickness was .29 of an inch and the metal portion of the shoe measured .11 of an inch.

  • Replacement Self-Adjusting Brake Assemblies and Replacement Brake Shoes for 3500-lb Dexter Axle
We do offer individual drum brake parts like shoes as well other parts, and we also have complete replacement brake assemblies. For Dexter 10 x 2-1/4-inch electric Nev-R-Adjust drum brakes on a 3500-lb axle we offer right-hand shoe kit # K71-682 and left-hand kit # K71-681. • Can Dexter Brake Shoes Be Used on Lippert Brake Assemblies
Dexter brake shoes like the 10" Nev-R-Adjust # K71-681 and # K71-682 are indeed typically compatible with Lippert Electric Brake Assemblies. I reached out to my contact at AxleTek, who is the main supplier of trailer brakes to Lippert, and he confirmed compatibility. The only potential issue is that occasionally Lippert switches up who they use to manufacturer their trailer brakes. This is fairly easy to determine though as incompatible assemblies would look physically different. Simply...

  • Are all 3,500 lb Trailer Brake Assembly Shoes the Same
In order to do that we would need to know what brand your brake assemblies are as they are not all universal across brands. • How to Determine Correct Hub & Brake Shoes For 2022 Forest River Salem FSX 178BHSK
Hello Ollie, I can tell you how to find the right replacement hub and brakes for your 2022 Forest River Salem FSX 178BHSK but am unable to give you any part numbers as we have no way of knowing what hub and brakes are on your trailer. So in order to find the correct hubs you will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you...
