Driver's-side electric brake measures 12" x 2". Brake pads are made of durable friction material for improved braking and longevity. E-coated backing plate resists rust. Fits 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2" wheels.

Features:

  • Electric brakes are easier to install and offer more user control than hydraulic brakes
    • Requires only an electric brake controller (sold separately) - no actuator or hydraulic lines necessary
  • Automotive-grade friction material is molded to brake shoes
    • Pads are fully bonded - not riveted - to shoes for long life and more braking torque
    • Less chance of cracking and crumbling that can lead to mechanical lockup, thanks to tapered edge and circular grinding
  • Periodic manual adjustment required
    • Fine-tooth brake adjustment gear allows for a more precise setting
  • E-coated backing plate resists wear and corrosion
  • Adjuster plugs (included) cover access holes to keep dirt and grime out of the assembly and off of the shoes
  • Mounting bolts and hardware (BRKH12S) sold separately
  • QAI and CSA certified

Manual-Adjust Brake

With repeated use of this brake assembly, the brake shoes may move out of alignment, causing less efficient braking performance. To keep the brake shoes aligned and the brake assembly performing correctly, you should perform routine maintenance.

This brake assembly should be adjusted after installation and then as needed for the life of the brake. To adjust the brake, use a brake adjustment screw tool (sold separately) to turn the adjustment gear on the inside of the assembly. Continue to turn the gear until the drum surrounding the brake catches on the brake pads enough so that the hub can no longer be turned easily by hand. Then reverse the gear by about 10 clicks. A properly adjusted brake should drag slightly on the brake drum.

Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This brake assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This brake assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This brake has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

Automotive-Grade Friction Material

Each shoe on this brake assembly is lined with automotive-grade friction material for improved stopping performance and longevity. The friction material is fully bonded onto the surface of the brake shoe. This lining is custom-molded for a perfect fit. The edges are tapered to ensure long-lasting performance. This taper, along with the circular grinding that the lining undergoes, helps to prevent cracking and crumbling. This durability helps to prevent mechanical lockup, which can occur when brake shoes are excessively worn or broken.

The friction material is also SAE-N certified, which means that it is an environmentally safe product that complies with California and Washington regulations regarding the composition of brake pads. As a result, this material not only provides high-performance braking that can endure the test of time, but it is also environmentally friendly and safe for use throughout the United States and Canada.

  • 5,200 Lb Timbren Axle-Less System With Compatible Hub, Drum and Electric Brakes
The Warner-style brake assemblies are no longer made and replacement parts are essentially non-existent at this point, so really your best option is going to be replacing your hub and drum as well as brake assemblies. You may also need to weld on a new brake mounting flange, which will be determined by the diameter of your axle. In order to find the correct replacement hubs for your trailer you need to know the weight rating of your axle, and also what bearings your current hub has. You...

  • Replacement Hub and Drum Assemblies with Inner Bearing 25580 and Outer Bearing 15123
If the existing inner and outer bearings on your trailer are indeed # 25580 and # 15123 respectively, then the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K referenced in your question will work perfectly. You will also just want to take note of the axle capacity on your trailer, as this assembly is designed for 5,200 to 6,000 pound axles. The taper that you mentioned on your trailer's spindle is not an issue. This hub and drum assembly features a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern and the...

  • Replacement Brake Assmeblies and Hubs with Bearings 25580 and 15123
What axle capacities do you have and what diameter are they? Also I'd need to know the brand. We most likely have what you need but without more info I can't really tell you which you'd need.

  • What Happens if You Install Trailer Brake Assembly Upside Down
Your trailer brakes will still work with the assemblies mounted upside down where the magnet is above the spindle, but from the customers we know who have done this we have found that the stopping power won't be as strong as if they were mounted the right way. I would recommend you orientate them correctly so that you have the safest braking on your trailer. A 5 bolt assembly shouldn't be able to bolt up correctly upside down. You might just verify that the magnet is below the spindle...

  • Recommended Electric Brake Assemblies and Hub Drums for a 26ft Gooseneck Trailer
If your brake assemblies mount on a plate using 5 bolts, you most likely would be looking for a 12 inch diameter brake assembly like part # AKEBRK-6R and # AKEBRK-6L, but you could verify this by measuring directly across the center of your drum or the brake assembly. To recommend the correct hub drum for your application, I would need to know your current hub bolt pattern, as well as the bearings it uses. In order to determine your hub drum bolt pattern, you would need to measure center...

  • Left And Right Brake Assemblies For A 2011 Keystone Alpine 3500RE
The Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # AKEBRK-6L & # AKEBRK-6R are great options for your 2011 Keystone Alpine Fifth Wheel. These brake assemblies will work with 14-1/2", 15", 16", and 16-1/2" diameter wheels, 5,200lbs, 6,000lbs, 7,000lbs axles, and measures 12" diameter, 2" wide. These brakes should work great for your 5th wheel as long as the brake assemblies on your current brakes are 12" in diameter and use a 5 bolt mounting pattern then these will work. I also recommend buying these...

  • Solution for Needing Replacement Left Hand 6k Axle Brake Assembly
Hey John, so for just a replacement left hand brake assembly for the 6k axle you have you'd want the # AKEBRK-6L but honestly it's best to do both sides at the same time with the part # AKEBRK-6 for even brake application.

  • Hub/Drums, Brakes, Wheels and Tires for ASR35HDS02 Axle-Less Suspension System on Tear Trailer
I'd be happy to make some recommendations for you. The Timbren # ASR35HDS02 Axle-Less Suspension would be a good choice for the teardrop-style trailer you're building. Mechanically speaking, this a much simpler way to go versus using a typical beam-type axle and leaf springs or a torsion axle. The spindles used are compatible with a 12 inch hub/drum that uses a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern which is ideal for the off-road trailer tires that the system is designed to use. For the compatible...

  • Timbren Axle-Less Suspension for 10,000 Pound Mobile Hydraulic Lift
A tow-behind hydraulic lift is going to need to be stable so I recommend using a tandem axle set up just like you mentioned. That would equate to using 2 sets of Timbren Axle-Less systems rated for 5,200 pounds for a total capacity of 10,400 pounds. We have a couple of options in this capacity: # ASR5200S01 has regular spindles; no rise or drop, and # ASR5200S04 has a 4 inch drop spindle meaning that it will lower the trailer by 4 inches. • Can Different Brand Electric Trailer Brakes be Used on a Dexter Axle
No, you don't have to use Dexter brakes with your Dexter axles. There are some brake assemblies that are unique though that fit other axles so you would still need to look closely at the descriptions to determine if a given brake assembly has a special application or not. For example a 7K etrailer assembly # AKEBRK-6L would fit in place of a 6K Dexter assembly # 23-106. If it were me I would go with the etrailer brakes because they are a fantastic value.

The shape of the magnet won't have any bearing on the compatibility of the brake assembly with your current brake drums. These would be a good replacement, but to be honest I'd personally choose self adjusting brake assemblies like # AKEBRK-7-SA. If you don't care to reuse your existing brake assembly mounting hardware, we offer replacement hardware as part # BRKH12 which includes...

Part # AKEBRK-6L would be for the driver's side and will also put the long shoe in the rear.
