Required in most states, a safety chain acts as backup if your trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. Attach the end link of this chain to your trailer and then hook the clevis hooks to your truck.

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the Andersen Ultimate Safety Chain Kit. This gives you everything that you need to replace the bolts on your coupler or your king pin coupler, to make sure that you get these attachment points that gives you a place to locate your clevis hooks or the shackles to attach your chains from your trailer to your vehicle. It's always a good idea to have safety chains are there as a backup, just in case there's anything that goes wrong, in case there's an accidental disconnect. So you have that secondary system to hold everything together while you get to safety and make sure that everything is taken care of. So let's look a little closer at each thing and talk a little bit more about what comes with the kit.
So we'll have our two chains. One end has our big clevis hook there.This is a 5/16th inch clevis hook with the forged steel, has a nice coating on it to help protect from rust or corrosion. The other end is just a link. So you can use the shackles that this comes with to attach it either to the point on your vehicle, safety chain loops on your vehicle or to these eyelets there. It doesn't really matter which way you do it just as long as each is attached securely or each end of the chain is attached securely.
So one end of the shackle is threaded. So you want to make sure you put it through there. These are going to be a half inch shackle. Our chains measure at 32 and a half inch long with the hook in place. Just the chain by itself is 35 inches long.
The break strength that this kit is rated for is 24,000 pounds although the safe working load limit is 4,700 pounds or 4,700 pounds.That's pretty much all there is to it. One last thing I want to tell you for the install. Whenever you're putting these in place, you do have to replace the bolts in that coupler pit assembly. And for the one that's going on the side with your remote cable release, you want to make sure you put it through with this guy away from that. So you don't block it or cause any interference between the two.That's very much everything we have to talk about with the Andersen Ultimate Safety Chain Kit.

I had ordered an Anderson gooseneck to 5th wheel hitch and forgot to order the safety chains. Went back to the manufacturer site after realizing this and they were completely out of stock. And they weren’t the only ones, every local RV store was out as well.

Quality of the Andersen ultimate hitch safety chains is excellent and fit perfect. But the best part of this purshase was the customer service I received on the phone when there was a problem because I did not have our lot number on the shipping address.. I called etrailer, a friendly rep answered immediately and told me they would notify UPS with the correction. She called me back 5 minutes later to let me know it was all corrected. Item was here the next day. No one now days gives that good old fashion service! Job well
done etrailer. You will e my first choice for my towing needs from here on out.

Great quality and arrived just as descibed. If you tow a 5er these are great safety chains. Some states require these chains. The are designed to be used with the Anderson Ultimate Hitch.....which BTW is another great product

The safety chains for the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel connection are just as stated - very heavy-duty safety chains with the replacement bolts for the pin adapter. I was surprised at how heavy they are. I was shocked at the price when I looked for the rail-mount loops to connect the chains to the truck bed. For now, I am looping the chains around the rear legs of the hitch...
Just as described and and this is required in some states for pulling a 5th wheel and this place is fantastic with there fast shipping and quality of service

Just great
Purchased it because of a trip to Indiana and from what I have read it's required. Went on without any issues, if I was to change anything it would to have included the torque specifications, luckily I still had my original installation instructions.

Terrific!
Bought the chain kit as a "just incase it's a legally required anywhere I tow" and it's perfectly as described and expected. Installs easily just like the rest of the hitch, and does everything it's supposed to do. Still loving the hitch too, it pretty well stays in my truck since I hardly use the bed. It has been the best solution to give me options on how to configure to allow me to pull a 5th wheel camper with a mega cab ram, that is also ram box equipped.
Every piece of this kit is heavy duty and seems high quality. I haven't towed with it yet but can't imagine that anything could break it. I will say that it comes with the bolt already screwed into the eye and it's not easy to take apart. Was able to use a lot of leverage to get it apart without damage. I recommend this product.

After using these chains for a year, Im glad I bought them and would still recommend them. I have a lot of confidence that they will keep my 5th wheel attached to the truck if needed. I wont tow my camper without them.
These Andersen Ultimate Safety Chains are heavy on the duty! I purchased these for towing an all steel horse trailer with a Reese gooseneck hitch. Nothing is more important than the safety of my horses and I can rest easy knowing that these safety chains will do the job if it ever becomes necessary.
I received the Andersen Ultimate hitch and Safety chain kit on Wednesday. This hitch is fantastic! It slid right into my existing standard rails and the coupler went on as easy as advertised. I have a 2016 Ram 2500 short bed and Grand Design Reflection 337RLS. I had a Curt E16 with the slider and would have to use the slider for tight maneuvers. I no longer have to worry about it. I now have plenty of clearance and I don't have to get out of the truck to engage the slide. I also like that I shed about 100 lbs of weight in the bed by making the switch. The ride is noticeably smoother and quieter.

Etrailer had the required safety chains for my Andersen 5th wheel hitch install an attachment was easy.
Since some states require safety chains for gooseneck type hitches and the Andersen Ultimate is kind of a hybrid I thought I’d error on the side of caution and get the safety chains.
Customer service was excellent. They responded immediately when I had a shipping question and product was received on time. They followed up to ensure they were received.
The safety chains and king pin box replacement eye-bolts worked as advertised along with the Andersen hitch they were purchased for. Installation was very simple and no problems were noted.
The safety chains are heavy duty with easy to use clevis hooks. This entire system was east to install and gives me a great sense of security while hauling.
Fantastic delivery. I ordered this safety chain kit for my 5th wheel camper on Thursday and the package was delivered on the following Monday. This is an exceptional quality set of safety chains. I am sure if these ever had to come into play, something else would break before the chains ever broke down.
