Question:
Do the Safety Chains for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter also work for a standard gooseneck horse trailer?
asked by: Jay A
Expert Reply:
For a general-purpose safety chain for a standard gooseneck trailer we offer # 337BSC3842 from Buyers Products. This is a 42-inch chain with 3/8-inch clevis. The chain is rated for 15,000 pounds. This is sold as a single chain, not a pair.
The 36-inch safety chains included with Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3109 are similar to chains like # RM3230 which include the D-rings needed to attach them. This item is intended for use with that specific adapter.
We also have the Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks, part # 49150, meant for Reese Goose Box couplers. These are rated for 16K and measure 44-inches long including the hooks. These also include mounting hardware for installation as shown in the linked diagram.
