Hey Jan, yes you do want to use the safety chain set part # RM3230 with the Andersen Ultimate fifth wheel hitch to gooseneck adapter part # 3220. The reason is goofy but if there's a hitch ball involved at all with the connection safety chains are required.

Hey Jan, did you end up picking up the safety chain kit to go with your Andersen gooseneck hitch? Knowing how that setup worked for you could help others planning the same connection.

@JamesonC Thank you for advising us that we needed safety chains with our Anderson Gooseneck hitch purchase. We installed the hitch and chains to our standard bed 3500 diesel pickup. Today, we used the new set up to pull our 44 foot RV. We were extremely happy with how smooth the trailer pulled and with the truck bed clearance. After we parked the RV we removed the Anderson hitch. This allowed us to use our regular gooseneck ball to pull our horse trailer. Super quick and simple transition!! Awesome purchase. Thank you for your advice.
