Question:
Im rebuilding a 16 foot car trailer and I need to replace the safety chains. I was wondering what grade of chain I should be buying. A rough guess on the weight of the trailer fully loaded would be 6,500 to 7,000 lbs. Thanks

As with any other item on a trailer, such as tires, wheels, winches or jacks, when selecting safety chains you want to ensure a good safety margin, in other words, you want to use an item that has a good bit more capacity than you will actually need.
I suggest the Tow Ready Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks, part # 49150, which is a set of two 44-inch chains with mounting hardware.
