E16 5th Wheel Jaw

Simple, Secure Hookup

With a dual-pivoting head that offers 10 degrees of lateral movement, the E16 fifth-wheel hitch makes hookup a snap, even on unlevel ground. Once the king pin slides into the hitch, the auto-locking, slide-bar jaw secures it in place. A unique feature of the E16 is the rear steel tension bar within the jaw that activates upon hookup to clamp down on the king pin, providing a tighter grip that maximizes security and minimizes rattle.

Non-Binding S20 Slider

Specially designed for trucks with 6' to 8' beds, this non-binding slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Replacement Head Unit for Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Review

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be going over the CURT E16 replacement 5th wheel head. This is designed to replace your E16 5th wheel head. If you've already got one and you're wanting to replace it. If it got damage or if it's old and rusty this is gonna be a perfect fit. It's also gonna come with the replacement bracket.

If you'd like to swap out the head on the S20 which is their new slider base, you can put this in, mount it to the correct height and then put this hitch head right in the top of it. You are gonna get all the replacement parts that initially come with the kit so you'll get new hardware, new pins, a new handle, and this bracket. The best way to get this set up inside the S20 base is to set your head height with the bracket first and then set the head on top of it. Now with our new hardware, we can set the height of our hitch a lot easier than a lot of other hitches out there. A lot of 'em are gonna have to set it with the head attached but this bracket only weighs about 10 pounds so it's really easy to get it in place.

Now to get your new head in place, it's as simple as setting it on top of the bracket. And again, it will come with two new pins. And that's, I think that's kind of nice 'cause when you're replacing you know, new parts you'd like to put new hardware in too 'cause chances are these are gonna be pretty wore out. So some of the reasons why you would need to replace your 5th wheel head is if it's got a lot of rust on it it's gonna start to affect the integrity of the strength of the hitch itself. So if it's got too much rust you might think about replacing it.

If you've not been using enough grease or any grease at all this head can start to score and once it starts scoring you can't really go back 'cause it needs a smooth surface to slide on your kingpin base. Another reason is your grease gets dirty that can cause scoring. If you're not using a lube plate. There's a lot of different reasons of why you would need to replace this head. If your mechanism isn't working correctly anymore.

But it's good to know that you can just replace the head. But with that being said, a lot of people what they'll do is they'll, if they have an A16 or an E16 head and they have the traditional base but they get a new vehicle and they'd like to switch to the slider, you can keep your old head, get the slider, and then later on you can replace the head. So there's several different options and reasons of why you would need a new E16 head. Well, with all that being said, we've got it all installed it's ready to go, and it's ready for our next trip.

  • Which Curt Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Fits 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 6-1/2 foot Bed
Curt does offer a set of custom install fifth wheel rails that fit your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 6-1/2 foot bed with the part # C65KR but the part # C16400-104 you referenced does not fit your truck. Since you have a short bed truck you would need a slider hitch to give you the needed turning clearance like the A16 part # C16521.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 w/ a Short Bed
Since your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a short bed, you would need either a rotating pin box, if your bed is 5-3/4' in length, or a sliding fifth wheel hitch, if your bed is 6-1/2' in length. These options would allow for enough turning clearance to prevent the nose of the trailer from coming into contact with the cab of your Silverado when making tight turns. If your 2017 Keystone RV Cougar X-Lite 29RES comes with a Lippert Turning Point or Reese Sidewinder pin box then you'll need...

Other than the 2022 Toyota Tundra and the 2019+ GMC Sierra 1500 Denali, I'm not aware of any other currently available composite bed trucks. None of our vendors yet offer a 5th wheel bracket/rail option for the 2022 Tundra, but Curt offers the # C65KR bracket/rail kit for the 2019+ GMC Sierra Denali 1500, as long as it isn't the 5-1/2 foot bed.

To avoid drilling into your frame I recommend using the Custom Install Kit # C65KR instead. Installation instructions have been linked for you to check out.

  • Curt 5th Wheel Base Rails and Installation Kit For 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 With 6-1/2 Foot Bed
We do have 5th wheel base rails and installation brackets that fit your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed, but the part number you mentioned is not a fit. Instead, the correct Curt install kit for your truck is the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C65KR. These are a custom fit for your truck, which means you do not have to drill into its frame, which is not only good for your truck but also a serious time-saver. • Is an Under-Bed Mounted 5th Wheel Hitch Option Available for 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500
By 'standard bed', I assume you're speaking of the 6-1/2 foot bed. If that isn't the case, please let me know. There isn't a puck system available that's like the OEM puck system offered on the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, but we do offer a solution that might work for you that has the mount for the hitch install so it's under the bed which leaves the bed unobstructed. • Which Sidewinder 5th Airborne for Keystone Cougar for 2020 GMC Sierra 1500
The Keystone Cougar Fifth Wheel should use a Lippert 1621 Pin Box so for a Sidewinder 5th Airborne you'd want the part # RP61422. With that said the Demco Recon part # DM8550045 can not be used with a Sidewinder since this attaches to a gooseneck ball and the Sidewinders require a hitch that attaches to the truck bed in four locations like the Reese # RP30047 which attaches to industry standard rails. • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2016 Ford F-150 Short Bed
The # RP30035 can be installed on a 2016 Ford F-150 but it also requires the use of the adapter part # RP58531 that will making it be more cost effective to go with a custom rail kit for your truck. Custom rail kits are much preferred as they minimize drilling and install time greatly. For that you would want the part # RP50087-58 which has been confirmed as a fit for your truck. Since you have a short bed truck you would need to go with a slider hitch like the part # C95DR to give you...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2012 Ram 1500
You would be barely under the towing capacity but technically yes, if your 2012 Ram 1500 has a 10,250 towing capacity and the trailer you are looking at weighs 10,244 lbs you would be good to go. However, you need to consider the fact that when you are towing this trailer you only will have about 6 lbs worth of capacity left over for cargo. Realistically that's probably not going to be enough so a lighter trailer would be a better choice. The part # RP30081 that you referenced would be...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2015 Ram 2500 Short Bed
Since your 2015 Ram 1500 has a short bed you will need a slider hitch to let you make tight turns, and for that I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR. For a rail kit to fit your underbed rail kit you will need the # RP30154.

  • Towing Capacity and Recommended Hitch to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2014 Toyota Tundra
The towing capacity of your 2014 Tundra is determined by Toyota, not either dealership. I recommend checking your owner's manual with your truck's specifics. Or you can contact Toyota with your VIN and they should be able to tell you how it came directly from the factory. I looked up a copy of your truck's manual but I'd still look at a printed copy if possible because as you said it has the tow package and 5.7L V8 but the capacity also depends on the bed length and cab style. From what...

The Reese Chevy/GMC Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50066 fits the rails for earlier model year 2011-2019 GMC Sierra 2500s, so they will not fit your truck. For rails that are confirmed to fit your 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 with 6-3/4' bed I recommend the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16429-204. From there, you can install the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR.

  • Correct Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit for a 2022 Ford F-250 Short Bed
The correct Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit for a 2022 Ford F-250 is part # RP56017-53. There are only outboard kits (long rails) from Reese for this truck but this makes for an easier installation. If you don't already have a fifth wheel hitch picked out, I recommend the Curt 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider part # C95DR. I also recommend the Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness for Aluminum Truck Bed part # 54701-003-010.
