Difference Between Curt 5th Wheel Base Rail Kits For 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

Question:

Hi, Can you tell me the difference between CURT C45KR and C65KR. Both seems to fit the 2021 Sierra 1500 but with a big $ difference. Thanks

That's a good question, and the only difference between the two base rail kits that fit your 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 (6-1/2 foot and 8 foot bed) is the finish. One is a glossy black finish and the other is a carbide black, which essentially means it just doesn't have quite as much shine to it. Otherwise, they are exactly the same, with the same parts and no-drill install in the frame rails of your truck:

- Gloss Black Finish: Curt Semi-Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC Truck # C45KR

- Carbide Black Finish: Curt Semi-Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC Truck # C65KR

So you can choose the one that is the least expensive and not lose out on anything in regards to function, performance, or quality.

They will work perfectly to mount a 5th wheel hitch in your '21 Sierra 1500, and I really like the Curt A16 hitches to go with these Curt rails. The right one will depend on if you have a short bed and need a sliding hitch or a long bed and can go with a fixed hitch.

- Long Bed (8'): Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120

- Short Bed (6-1/2'): Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Slider # C16521

The only other thing you will need is a 5th wheel wiring harness, the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness # C53CR.
