Features to know about

Built for Heavy Towing Confidence: 25,000 lbs GTW and 6,250 lbs Vertical Load Limit

This hitch is made for serious pulling power with a 25,000-lb gross towing weight rating and 6,250-lb vertical load limit. The sturdy steel construction and durable carbide powder coat finish give it the backbone for long hauls and rough roads. Whether you’re towing fully loaded or just heading cross-country, the solid build keeps the connection tight and dependable mile after mile.

Stay Quiet and Secure on the Road: Interlocking Dual-Jaw System with 360-Degree Contact

The interlocking 2-jaw setup wraps entirely around the king pin for full 360-degree contact. That tight grip cuts down on rattle and movement, giving you a quieter, more secure tow compared to slide-bar designs. The fully articulating torsion head smooths out bumps and suppresses road shock, so every trip feels steadier and less stressful on both truck and trailer.

Easily Check Your Coupling Status: Three-Point Color-Coded Lock Indicator

No more guessing when you’re coupled or ready to tow. The color-coded indicator tells you at a glance—red for uncoupled, yellow for ready to couple, green for towing. It’s visible right from the cab, so you can make quick checks without climbing into the bed. The handle locks with a padlock (sold separately) to secure your trailer and automatically resets to the ready position after you uncouple.

Tight Turns Made Simple: S25 Non-Binding Slider with 12" Travel

For slow-speed turns where space gets tight, the S25 slider gives you 12" of front-to-back travel to create the extra clearance you need. It slides smoothly without binding and automatically latches in both directions, so you only have to exit the cab once to move it. This makes maneuvering in tight spots much easier while protecting your cab from contact during sharp turns.

Quick Removal When You Need Your Bed Back: One-Pin Head Release with Lube Plate Included

When it’s time to clear your truck bed, the fast one-pin head removal makes it simple for one person to lift off the hitch head without special tools. Two built-in zerk fittings make lubrication easy, and the included plastic lube plate helps the king pin glide smoothly into place during hookup. It’s a practical setup that’s strong when you need it and easy to handle when you don’t.

Video Transcript for What to Know About the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.

We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.

This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.

The Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with S25 slider worked perfectly on my 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Install was a breeze. Great pricing as well at etrailer.com.

Order arrived very quickly. Package and contents in great shape. Have not installed as of yet because still waiting on the ORDERED NEW Truck. Have test fitted to another like vehicle and see no problems. Have also test fitted my older Reese 14K 5th wheel hitch to the Curt rails, again no problems. Appear identical except for 3 additional holes in each base rail as compared to the original Reese rails. Have ordered from etrailer.com before and always satisfied with there products, service, quality, timeliness, and more.

2013 Ford F-150
Installed in 2013 F-150 61/2 ft bed. Everything fit as it should. Directions were pretty straight forward. Have a long handled 3/4 open or box end wrench on hand. No room for ratchet . Lightly tape front nuts and spacers together and slide under bolt and start threads from above. They are carriage bolts but long enough to start threads. You'll see what I mean. All parts included, frame brackets fit perfectly. Very satisfied with Curt c16441-204 fifth wheel installation kit and etrailer. I've dealt with etrailer before and never had a problem.

by:
The instructions were spot on and the install was straight forward. I had to get a little creative to tighten some of the bolts because of clearance issues but other than that it went well

I have been using this hitch for a year now. Very easy smooth operation. There is a little noise when towing, but after I added some grease, It has been a pretty quiet hitch. Easy installation with the large brackets and very solid.

Ellen was very good assisting me with my first purchase from etrailer.
We discussed options about 5th wheels vs gooseneck with adapter.
The recommendation was a fifth wheel, then she suggested the curt with 360 swivel and cushioned. I have been greatly pleased with this setup.
My wife and I completed the installion in 3 1/2 hrs.
I'll be doing more business with etrailer.
Thanks James
Note: have pulled 6000 lb camper about 3 trips, handles great

Had products within 5 days and this including Saturday and Sunday. The mounting brackets match up to truck perfectly. only needed to remove the spare tire. did right on the floor of my garage. It was a two person operation getting bolts. total worth spending extra to avoid drilling in to the frame. 3 to 4 hours to complete project. that includes installing the hitch and clean up.

Great easy to install hawever no longer own but will be buying from etrailer for next set on new truck.

Was easy to install

by:
2011 ford F-150
Installed in my 2011 F150 on level ground...no lift. Did it my self with help from my son. Is as stated.
by:
Nice install everything fit just right. Product is everything they said instructions were clear and easy to follow. The shipping was right on time and everyone at Etrailer was very helpful I would order from them again .
by:
The brackets went on the frame with the help of included wire devices to thred the bolts through the frame existing holes. They support the rails nicely and have performed as advertised. I would buy them again.
by:
Unfortunately it was missing a bunch of nuts, bolts and square hole washers. Called and they have been sent. I've improvised in the meantime to complete the install. Not so easy to install. Had to put the front carriage bolts upside down as I couldn't fit my hand between the frame and the bed to start the nut.
by:
Ford F-150
The product was very well built. It was a fairly easy install on my F-150, the only real problem was installing the front bolt of the rail it is in a tight area. Price was exceptional compared to local RV store, I like buying local but $100 dollars in savings had to buy at etrailer. Sales staff excellent and price awesome!

Installed in my 2013 f150. Everthing fit perfectly. Very pleased. It took longer than I figured because I have the plastic wheel wells on this pickup. And they dont come out easily. So worked around them.
by:
So far so good haven’t had a chance to install yet but will update when I do. Everything was came in 2 boxes but looks like shipping company had a hard time with it lol boxes were pretty rough shap but looks like nothing is missing

Tracking is showing that it has finally arrived. Can you please let me know if the tracking is correct or not? Sometimes, packages will deliver to the wrong address, so I also recommend you contacting your neighbors if you still have not received it to see if they got it in your place.

Then repeat with the other side outside slot. The measurements should be the same. If not then the rails are not square. Take a look at the picture to see what I mean. I...

Because of this we typically recommend a sliding hitch to prevent this from happening. For a sliding version of the Q25 you would need parts # C35DR and # C16022. Newer model trailers...

  • Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch to Fit B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch
The only way to know how heavy a hitch you need is to find the trailer's gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) which is its maximum weight when fully loaded. There's likely a tag on the trailer that states the GVWR, or it may say on the trailer's documentation. You may also be able to contact the trailer manufacturer with the VIN to find its specs from when it was built. As a last resort you can load the trailer and weigh it. Of course this requires you to get it to a scale and you still...

  • Recommended 25K 5th Wheel Hitch For A 2022 Ford F-350 DRW
Typically you'll only want to use 80-85% of any item's total capacity to keep a buffer safety zone so that you never risk having a product fail. You're correct that the only Companions at 25k capacity are for OEM puck systems.
