Features to know about

Built to Tow Heavy and Tow Smooth: 24,000 lbs GTW and Dual-Jaw Security

This Curt Q24 5th wheel hitch is built from sturdy steel and rated for 24,000 lbs gross towing weight with a 6,000 lbs vertical load limit. The two-piece, rounded dual jaws wrap completely around the king pin to give you full 360-degree contact. That solid connection helps cut down on rattle and movement compared to slide-bar designs, so every mile feels more stable and controlled. The included plastic lube plate keeps things gliding smoothly during hookup.

See at a Glance When You’re Ready to Tow: Color-Coded Lock Indicators

There’s no guessing if the hitch is locked—just check the color-coded indicators. Red means uncoupled, yellow means ready to couple, and green means you’re locked in for towing. You can see the indicator right from the cab or at the hitch handle itself, giving you quick peace of mind before you roll out.

Move Freely Over Every Dip and Turn: Spherical Axial Bearing with 360-Degree Pivot

The Q24’s unique spherical axial bearing lets the hitch head move smoothly in all directions—not just front to back or side to side. That full 360-degree pivot keeps the trailer tracking naturally behind you while built-in cushioning takes the edge off road shock. The result is quieter operation with less clunking or chucking when you hit uneven roads.

Simple Setup and Easy Removal: Two-Pin Head Design with Adjustable Height

Installing or removing this hitch is straightforward thanks to its 2-pin head removal system. One person can separate the head from the base to manage weight in smaller pieces when clearing out the truck bed. With 4" of height adjustment between 13" and 17", it’s easy to dial in a level setup that gives your trailer the right bed rail clearance for smooth towing.

Durable Finish That Lasts: Carbide Powder Coat Protection

Every component of this heavy-duty fifth wheel hitch is finished with a durable carbide powder coat that stands up to weather and wear. Combined with Curt’s solid steel construction and a 10-year limited warranty, it’s built for years of reliable towing performance without fuss or flex.

Video Transcript for Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch: The Breakdown

Today we'll be reviewing the Curt Q24 fifth wheel trailer hitch with dual jaws, rated at 24,000 lbs. It's part number C16245. This Curt fifth wheel hitch is made from sturdy steel with a durable carbide powder coat finish. It has a gross towing weight capacity of 24,000 lbs., and a vertical load capacity of 6,000 lbs. The height adjustment range is 13" to 17", and it's all covered by a 10-year warranty. We'll go ahead and install our fifth wheel onto our rales.

With the weight of this 5th wheel, you'll need an extra set of hands to help put it into place. We'll now use the four pins and clips to secure the hitch into the rails. We'll slide the pins through the rails and hitch feet here, and install the clip on the other side. As you can see, with the pin in place, the fifth wheel is secure. Now we'll repeat this with the other pins.

With all of our pins in place, we can now go over some of the features of the Q24 fifth wheel hitch. This fifth wheel is equipped with a dual jaw locking system, which provides 360 degrees of contact between the jaw and the king pin. Another great features is the top plate has 360 degrees of movement, side to side, front to back, and diagonal. This fifth wheel also has a 3-point indicator system in which everything is color coded to let you know when your hitch is coupled, uncoupled, and ready to tow. It's also visible from within the cab of the truck.

This hitch also has 4" of height adjustment to help better fit the height of your trailer. You can see these two holes here, which are two points of adjustment. At this time, we have it set at the second set of adjustment points underneath. Another great feature of this fifth wheel is the ability to fit almost all industry standard rails, such as Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, ProSeries, Valley, and of course the Curt rails. Keep in mind thought that specific rails are not included with this fifth wheel.

Now that we've gone over some of the features and specs, we'll now demonstrate how this fifth wheel hitch works. For demonstration purposes, we'll be using this king pin simulator to show you how it works. To uncouple the trailer, there's a pin located on the back side of this lever, which will flip out and undo. We'll flip out this lever and pull out our handle, which will allow the king pin to move out of the jaws. You can see the red bar here as well as the red dot and the color indicator, which tells us we're in the uncoupled position. Moving the handle one section in, the indicator is now yellow, which means we're ready to couple the trailer. Again using the trailer simulator, we'll slide it into position. You'll see now that the indicator is in the green position, which tells us we're ready to tow. Now we can lock the handle back in place with this lever and clip. Now we're ready to head down the road. And there you have it for the Curt Q24 fifth wheel hitch, part number C16245.

I ordered this to install in my 2020 Silverado 2500. The install was easy and took close to 2 hours. Have not pulled my fifth wheel yet so really no idea how this will hold up. Everything was in the box nothing missing. Shipping took 2 days to get to my house. Very happy so far with everything I have ordered fro you.

by: Shawn06/09/2022

I installed myself on my 21 GMC Sierra 2500HD, Denali, Duramax. Took me around 3hrs to do with basic shop tools. Over all the unit itself is very nice. Heavy well treated metal, bolts are all good quality. Not one single alignment issue. Sucks that the truck manufacturers can’t make some sort of pre setup locations as it was some tight finger tip spots. But that’s not to the fault of This item at all.

by: Jerry07/19/2026

Fit perfect. Easy install if you’re han dy.

Truly happy with this product and can't wait to go to work! etrailer sent me everything I requested and the installer had no problems. Everything was packed well in shipping with no problems.

The Hitch was very good quality very easy to install in the 2018 Dodge Ram Total installation by myself was under an hour I plan on using it to move travel trailers fifth wheels around for people

by: Brett01/29/2017

Received my hitch very quickly, two days with free shipping. However, the hitch did arrive with a couple scraps. The company needs to work on the packaging and shipping prep. That being said, I am very happy with the hitch and the company. I called them prior to buying it and they answered all my questions, very helpful. I'd definitely buy another product from them.

by: Nicholas07/17/2026

Easy to install and it works great.

by: John S.07/08/2016

We took it to a shop to have it installed. It looks great, and the features to make sure our 5th wheel is securely locked in place give us peace of mind. And it's nice that the rails are made just for our 2016 Ram 3500 long bed. It really is well made and is a brute. Can't wait to get out on the road.

Hitch works amazing ! I have owned about a dozen different 5th wheel hitches and this one is the easiest to use and tell it 100 locked on the trailer

by: David A02/18/2017

Ordered my Curt 24k 5th wheel hitch on Tuesday, received around 230 Friday, and was installed by 5pm same day ( already had the rails). I am anxious to hook up my Heartland Big Country 3650RL to my 2006 Chevrolet dually and roll down the highway.
The hitch is alI i expected it to be, and it is quite heavy, but managed to get it installed by myself after reading the great installation instructions. As in other posts, slight scratches during shipping due to packing materials used by Curt, not etrailer's fault.
My RV has a tongue weight of 2350 lbs, 14000 overall, and 39'6" lenghth. Expectations are high that this hitch will handle it well! Thanks for the great service

by: Ben03/02/2020

Installed these bed rails on my 2020 Silverado Duramax 2500HD. Heavy duty rails and of good quality. Install time was around 3 hours. Definitely remove spare tire and heat shield. I did find it very difficult to torque 2 of the nuts on the driver's side front rail. Everything else no problem. I did spray some undercoating on the frame rail ends and nuts. Just did that for extra protection and it will make it easier to see if there is any movement when towing.

by: Gary R.06/10/2016

Haven't towed with it yet,but looks like it will be more user friendly than my previous hitch.I had to adjust my rails a little to get it to fit.Shipping speed was excellent. While etrailer wrapped and stapled over the manufacturer box the contents when opened had several places where the paint was missing due to parts rubbing together during shipment.

by: Rick10/02/2025

I purchased this rail kit for a camper we bought. It’s fits perfectly with the hitch that came with the camper. I also bought the spider gooseneck adapter which works great with these rails!

by: Lloyd C.11/07/2016

Got my Curt Q24 finally. A very good, quality, heavy hitch. It was just a little scratched up, in same spots as all others seems to post - do to shipping by UPS. Etrailer did double box it to help, so all in all it wasn't bad. It is definitely a heavy hitch, but being able to quickly break it into pieces (head removes easily) makes it much more manageable to put in and out of the truck. Can't wait for the trailer to get in so I can try out this hitch...
Installed onto Curt rails in a 2006 F350, with no issue. Will be pulling a 18k 43' 5er soon!
Shipping was a bit on the slow side compared to other reviews - took 2 weeks to get it, but luckily my trailer is also delayed so I didn't need it immediately.

I bought this hitch because I am a firm believer in buy heavier than I need for safety. This hitch has been absolutely wonderful. The fifth wheel pull great with no jarring and the solid feel when attached is comforting. I can easily reach everything I need to set the hitch and lock it. The jaws are very easy to tell if I am completely hooked or not and the lock works great for a quick look to tell if ready. This hitch was very well priced (cheaper than lighter rated models) without being of "cheap" quality. I have enjoyed this hitch very much and thank goodness it breaks down into pieces for removal as it is a very heavy unit.

by: Greg06/08/2026

Like the way hitch latches and easybto install

by: Brandon03/18/2026

This kit fit well and the installation instructions were very clear and easy to follow.

by: Brad05/05/2026

5 stars for the quality of the parts. Directions get you through but could be better. Video of installation makes it look way easier than it is. Took me 2 afternoons to complete the process.

Honestly, this is the best hitch I have ever bought. Hitching up is simple and its definitely a better buy then anything else in its class.

by: Paula07/09/2018

Have not had the opportunity to use the new hitch to pull our RV, but did hook up to the RV to check height and ease of hookup, it's great, very happy with this hitch so far.
Ease of ordering was excellent, received it within 5 days in great condition.

In the last year we have pulled a 16,000 lb Jayco 5th Wheel over 3,200 miles, up and down mountains and across flat lands with no problems. Still easy hookup and no troubles with it latching or in latching. We grease it and re-torque the bolts as per manufacturer recommendation, a little routine preventive maintenance goes a long way. Still very happy with the hitch, and would definitely recommend it, and have several times.

by: Dwayne B09/11/2020

I purchased a higher rated (weight) Curt hitch to prevent 'rolling' forward during hard stops. The new hitch far exceeds my trailer weight but I continue to have the problem, although not as often. I had the new hitch professionally installed.

It turned out the Curt hitch was not the problem, it was the pinbox which ultimately failed and was replaced by that manufacturer in June.

by: Steven10/07/2021

Installed on a 2021 GMC Denali DRW. The installation instructions and video need to be updated they are somewhat miss leading as to the difficulties of install. The driver side front rail nuts are almost Impossible to install because of gas tank. They will be impossible to torque without dropping the gas tank. Your will also have to remove the dual rear wheels to torque the frame plates Took almost 5 hours to install. Other than that have yet to use hitch.

very nice hitch , shipped relay fast 3 days to east coast, easy to install : had rails from old hitch,
it did come a LITTLE scratched up from shipping . one thing i wish it had more height / it does sit lower than old hitch buy 1 inch. haven't tried pulling yet / will up date latter . hope it pulls as good as it looks.
now no problem for bigger trailer, i hope! maybe a toy hauler?

so far the hitch has performed wonderfully . used it to make a trip down to Florida last fall from Va. to pick up a new landmark, witch had a heaver hitch wt. the new hitch seem to make the trip worry free

by: Sid07/30/2025

Product itself is really nice, well engineered and extremely stable in the truck bed. It's not as scratch resistant as I had hoped, I moved an electric oven and it really scraped the rails.
It does hold the hitch in place perfectly while towing, the holes and pin placement slots are spot on exactly like they should be. Mates really well with my Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch. Overall, satisfied with my hitch rails.

The only drawback is the installation.... OMGH! Was going okay until we got to the bolt that's on top of the fuel tank, could barely reach it and only get one millimeter turn at a time, then the torque wrench got stuck....
Just an ass-kicker!

But perseverance pays off and we got it installed and torqued to proper settings. Hope I never have to do that again.

Hey Ryne, yes we sell the industry standard fifth wheel rail kits separate from our hitches but for some reason we make them harder to find than they should be. So for your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 you would want the part # C16429-204. Do you have a hitch already?

You didn't mention if your 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500 had the OEM puck system, or if you already have bed rails installed, or if it was a short bed or long bed, so I'll list out every potential option: - Short Bed WITHOUT OEM Puck System: Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16429-204 & Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S25 Slider...

The B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 would be a great option for your 2023 GMC Sierra 2500. If you don't already have base rails then you'll want the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16429-204. As for height you'll need to measure the height of the king pin plate on your Rota-Flex pin box while the trailer is level and then measure the height of your Sierra's bed to determine what height the # BWRVK3270 needs to be set at to keep the trailer level and...

At this time, the Curt # C16429-204 above bed rails are the only confirmed fit for the 2023 GMC Sierra 2500. This would allow you to use a 5th wheel hitch like the # C55DR if you have a short bed or # C16140 for a long bed. For an underbed system, it may be possible to use the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1020. However, B&W only has reports of some customers and dealers successfully installing the hitch so we cannot guarantee it will fit. This would allow...

Hey Mark that is a bummer to hear. Have you been lubricating it at all this time? I know it's easy to forget to do that but if you do skip the components can get frozen up and hard to use. So I would go with your next plan and grease it up real nice like and I would be willing to bet it will work again. Worst case scenario we do have a replacement head unit for the A25 with the part #C16580.

  • Troubleshooting Sticking Jaws on Curt Q24 5th Wheel Hitch C16245
I am sorry to hear about your problem with your Curt Q24 5th wheel hitch # C16245. With a trailer as large and heavy as a 42-foot Montana it will be critical to have the trailer and truck on level ground and in a straight line with each other for all coupling and uncoupling processes. Any tension between the king pin and the hitch's jaw will make it difficult for the jaw mechanism to open to release the king pin. The Q24 has a color indicator system that tells you the status of the hitch,...

  • Is My Curt Q24 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible With My Rota-Flex Pin Box?
That is correct, your Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16245 is not compatible with Rota-Flex pin boxes like the Trailair Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC328330. This is due to the pivoting system in the pin box and the pivoting system in the hitch head working against each other which can ultimately lead to the hitch head failing. Instead, your only other option is to replace your pin box, or replace your 5th wheel hitch with something that is compatible with your pin box. I recommend...
