I do have a solution for you, however the Curt R20 Round Tube Slider # C16550 that you referenced will not work to replace the fixed legs on the Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16245. These two systems are not compatible with each other.

In order to convert the fixed Curt Q24 Hitch to a sliding model, you will instead need the Curt R24 Round Tube Slider # C16570. This will replace the legs on your hitch to provide you with the needed cab clearance during sharp turns on your short bed truck. It will give you 12 inches of front to back travel.
