Question:
Good day, I am wanting to install the hitch on my 2026 Honda Pilot with the motion activated door. I am under the impression you also sell a kit for moving the sensor. So, is there a kit for moving the sensor and does it require a specific hitch to go with it? Also do all of the hitches come with wiring kits or must they be purchased separately?

Good day! Yes, there is a sensor relocation kit available for the hands free liftgate on your 2026 Honda Pilot, but we do not carry it. It is an OEM Honda accessory available through your local Honda dealer under part 08L91-TG7-100C. That kit is designed specifically to relocate the motion sensor so it continues to work with a trailer hitch installed. It is not tied to a specific aftermarket hitch, so you can use it with the hitch I recommend below.
My favorite option for your Pilot is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # e27KR. It has a durable matte black finish that blends in nicely with the factory trim and does a great job of hiding scratches compared to a glossy finish. It also provides a 2 inch receiver, which gives you the widest selection of bike racks, cargo carriers, and towing accessories.
The wiring harness is sold separately, as it is only needed if you'll be towing a trailer with lights. For that, I recommend the Curt T Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # C48ZV, which provides a 4 way flat connector for trailer lighting. If you're planning to tow a trailer with electric brakes, let me know, and I'd be happy to recommend the correct 7 way wiring and brake controller setup as well.
Out of curiosity, what are you planning to use the hitch for first, a bike rack, a cargo carrier, or towing?

Ty for such a thorough answer. I am going to go with all three of you recommendations as I am pulling a light trailer, considering a scooter attachment an occasional may pulls 5k lb food trailer. All attachments do not have their own breaks.

The hitch bolted right up in less than an hour and it was a one man job, ( and a floor jack) the wiring kit was separate but it took much less time the Etrailer instructions are perfect. The magic door opening sensor is spotty without installing the OEM kit, I personally never bothered and just use the delay switch on the sidewall. Have Fun!!
