Get More Out of Every Trip: Class III 2" Hitch for Towing and Accessories

This hitch gives your vehicle real utility with a 2" x 2" receiver opening rated for a 6,000-lb maximum gross trailer weight and a 900-lb tongue weight. With weight distribution, it handles up to 8,000 lbs GTW and 900 lbs TW. That means you can tow campers, small trailers, or boats and still have the option to mount a bike rack or cargo carrier when you’re not towing. It’s built for steady hauling and everyday use.

Simplify Your Setup: Bolt-On Installation with Included Hardware

The hitch bolts right onto the frame using the included hardware—no welding required. Its custom-fit design lines up with factory mounting holes for a straightforward install that doesn’t need cutting or drilling. It’s made to go on easily in your driveway with basic tools, so you can get back to using your vehicle instead of spending hours on the install.

Built to Last: Fully Welded Steel with Matte Black Powder Coat

The sturdy, square-tube steel construction is fully welded and finished with a matte black powder coat over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. The unique matte finish has a rugged look that hides scuffs, dings, and road grime better than glossy coatings. It’s designed for years of towing in all weather without looking worn down.

Close-up comparison of matte carbide and glossy black finishes showing the texture and reduced glare of the matte powder coat on an etrailer trailer hitch receiver.

Side-by-side view of matte carbide versus glossy black powder coat finishes demonstrating how the matte surface reduces glare and hides wear on an etrailer hitch receiver.

Hidden Strength and Clean Looks: Concealed Cross Tube Design

With its concealed cross tube, this hitch keeps only the receiver visible under the bumper. That hidden design gives your setup a clean, factory-like appearance without sacrificing strength. You get the solid towing performance of a Class III hitch with an understated look that blends in seamlessly when not in use.

by:

This hitch went on my 2022 Acura MDX with hardly any issues. I installed this hitch by myself with no lift, though it would've been easier with at least one more person.

1. I cleaned the frame threads with some WD-40 and a 15mm Stainless Steel Bore Brush with 1/4" Hex Shank so I could use my cordless drill.

2. I had to tap the frame threads with an M14x1.5mm tap because the threads were so corroded (I live in MN). This worked perfectly.

3. I used two scissor jacks to raise the hitch (positioning the jack near the first hole nearest the receiver on each side). It was a bit tricky because you have to get around the mufflers halfway up, but with a little luck and patience, I managed to get both sides up and against the frame (1st time, too!).

4. I was able to get the first bolt in on the driver side nearest the bumper first but was unable to get the passenger side aligned because I had to remove my hands-free tailgate sensor (which really consists of a plastic panel that runs the length of the tailgate. There are 4 screws and 2 plastic rivets that you have to remove before you can remove the panel). Then I unplugged the sensor and tucked away wiring and saved the parts in case I sell the vehicle or want to try to relocate and reinstall, but to be honest it only worked half the time anyway and I rarely used it. I was able to rotate the hitch out of the way as it was attached with one bolt on the driver's side and held up by the jack on the passenger side (just had to slide the base of the jack and the hitch rotated easily.)

5. After the sensor plate was removed, it was easy to align the holes on the passenger side and the rest was clockwork. I did have to get a 1/2inch x 6inch drive extension so I could get the proper clearance to tighten the bolts with my 'old' torque wrench.

Thanks for taking the time to share your install experience, David. You really went into detail with what you did, I just know someone is going to read this and be thankful that you shared! What are your plans to use the hitch for?

by:

Third time we’ve purchased from trailer. This time for Honda Pilot. As usual easy installation. Excellent quality!

by:

Received my Class III hitch today, very beefy, well built. Installing myself on my 2023 MDX to haul my E-Bike. Packaging was rough but nothing damaged, need to foam that hitch in the box.
Great web site, speed of delivery and communication notification!

by:

Easy installation,I had originally bought a hitch from Honda but then you have to cut a hole in the bumper or buy a piece with the hole.this hitch mounts under the bumper and super easy to install.you will have to relocate the kick sensor on both the Honda and Etrailer hitch’s or just use the button

by:

Tough to install by yourself. An old school milk crate saved the day. Vaca Wednesday, impressed i received my order so quickly

by:

Well made and designed. They should mention that if you have rear bumper sensors, these would have to be disconnected.

by:

Was super easy to install. My 8 y/o helped it install it. All the instructions and hardware came secured in the package. Now our '23 Pilot is bike trip ready.

by:

The trailer was very easy to install. I was able to do it by myself with just a little muscle. The instructions were clear, and everything fit together perfectly. Overall, a smooth and straightforward installation process!

by:

Works good, but the spare tire has to be manipulated around to get it in right. If you just crank it up, it will hang on the hitch frame but feel tight. You have to hold it towards the front of the car while cranking until it clears the hitch.

by:

Solid hitch. Was easy to install. Fits my 2025 Honda Pilot and looks good sitting just under the bumper. Way cheaper than what the dealership wanted.

by:

Website was very easy to deal with. Shipping was extremely fast. Very high quality product and extremely easy to install

by:

I can't express enough how easy the install was! 6 grade 8 bolts/washers, so you KNOW they're tough, and the receiver is HEAVY DUTY. After cleaning out the predrilled holes under my Pilot, the install of this receiver was done in ten minutes. I was using my new bike rack within a half hour of installing this product and I was on the road! Can't recommend this product enough. Fast fast shipping too!

by:

Bordering, easy. Delivery, on time. Installation, uneventful. Phone representatives, helpful and courteous. I think that covers it.

@JE I'm glad that your hitch has been working well for you! What kinds of things have you used it for?

by:

Perfect fit on my 2024 Acura MDX. The installation video provided by eTrailer was very good. There was enough ground clearance that I did not have to jack up the vehicle. Having another person help to position and hold up the hitch during installation make this a ½ hour start to finish task.

by:

Excellent communication from etrailer and I can't believe how quickly I received my order. My hitch was packaged perfectly! This is the second time I have ordered from them and I will not hesitate to recommend to others.

by:

Nice and sturdy! Very well made and looks clean with my car. Fast direct shipping, even with an oversized package. Definitely picked the right company for my hitch receiver. I needed it for a trip, and it was here within 3 days.

by:

Perfect fit. Held up well over the past year. Zero issues. Performed as expected. Install was fairly easy and straightforward. The detail about how to deal with a sensor was excellent. I would recommend to anyone. I also appreciate the request for feedback after a year. So many times online reviews are requested immediately upon arrival. Not these guys. They want to know how it went a year later. Perfect.

by:

So I ordered a cheaper version first to save a few bucks. I had to send it back because it didn’t fit.
The product that I got from etrailer is of better quality and fit perfect. I also watched the video on YouTube on how to install the hitch outstanding. It all goes back to you get what you pay for (a better quality product and better service) thank you for the support from start to finish.

by:

Premium quality product. It fits the car nicely. With detail video it took about 30 minutes for two people to install the hitch to MDX in a home garage without lifting the car.

by:

VERY EASY to install with 2PEOPLE. My neighbor has an impact gun. We dropped the spare as suggested. Put the washers BEVELED side facing upwards, (very important). He got one side, I held the other side, started each bolt minimally, then impacted them to 136lb/ft. Installed in less than 20 minutes. Hitch fit perfectly. reattached the spare and where done. See my review on the wiring harness. VERY EASY to install also.

by:

High quality hitch that only took about 20-30 minutes to completely install. I did need an extender for my bike rack, but it was an easy fix.

by:

For the hitch itself, I would give it 5 stars. Excellent fit and finish. Looks equal to a factory install.

For the installation manual, I would give it a 3 star rating. This is because a CRITICAL step is missing for any MDV vehicle equipped with a kick plate sensor for the rear hatch. This kick plate sensor needs to be removed, then modified and reinstalled in order for the hitch to fit. Etrailor, it is important for you to amend PAGE 3 of the installation manual to add a Specific step BEFORE step 2 that advises owners of any MDX with a trim package that includes the kick sensor that this kick sensor needs to be modified BEFORE attempting to raise the trailer hitch into position......because the hitch will NOT fit without this modification.

by:

I installed it completely by myself using a floor jack, a 2×4, and jack stands. The factory bolt holes needed a lot of cleaning with penetrating oil, and I ended up using an M14 × 1.5 thread chaser to restore the threads on the Honda Pilot. After that, the installation went very smoothly. It fits perfectly, feels extremely solid, and I absolutely love it!

Thanks for the feedback Stephen and really appreciate you throwing in some photos. Good job on the solo install! The hitch looks great.

by:

This hitch offers great value and ease of installation, especially for DIYers. It features a durable matte-black, powder-coated steel finish that resists corrosion and hides chips or scratches well.
Took me 30-45 min. to put it on as a single person, It should take less time if you have your car on lift and have extra hand or jack to lift it up.

Always nice to have an extra set of hands, but you're right about jacks or stands being handy if you're tackling the job solo. Thanks for sharing the picture. What will you be towing now? :)

by:

Fit our'24 Acura MDX like a glove. 30 minutes to install. I like best that I didn't need to change or modify any trim plates to accommodate it. The OEM hitch (twice the price) has you also buy separate trim panels. We'll be using this for a 2" bike rack holding 2 bikes.
