Updated 07/02/2026 | Published 06/25/2026

Question:

I have the Blue Ox BX7420 tow bar and a 45foot diesel pusher. The flat tow is a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. I plan to purchase your Blue Ox 7foot Safety Cables - 10,000 lbs BX88197, Blue Ox Baseplate BX1139 and Demco Air Force One DM26VR, all in my cart. Are threre any other itmes required for my application. Thanks

Hey Tom! Since you already have your tow bar, the base plate # BX1139, safety cables # BX88197, and brake system # DM26VR cover the majority of what remains. You will also need tow bar wiring, and more than likely a high-low adapter to complete your setup.

If your Wrangler does not have ParkSense I recommend the Roadmaster # RM-15267. If you do have ParkSense you need # RM63MR with the smart diodes instead. I also recommend adding a charge line kit # RM-156-25.

I attached a help article further down on this page which explains how to measure and choose the correct high-low adapter. Blue Ox lists their bracket height as 18" so the only thing you will need to measure is the hitch on your motorhome.

Where are you headed once you get the Jeep set up?

Yes, you will need a charge wire to keep the battery in the jeep charged, otherwise it will go dead.

Don’t forget about the taillights working while towing. I went with the Hopkins engineering option because they use factory wires but no cutting wires. It’s a plug and play. Uses the plugs in the factory wire harness back near the rear bumper. No feedback into factory wiring and works with no issues.

@Jim that is what Roadmaster diode kit is for. I would stay away from Hopkins if anyone still finds their wiring at other retailers. Reliability aside, the company is completely gone now so if anything happens there won't be any support.
