etrailer Trailer Hitch Isn't Fitting On 2011 Toyota Tacoma

Question:
My trailer hitch does not fit even though your website said it does fit my vehicle

Hey Trent, sorry about your troubles!
Can you give me a little more info on your vehicle and how exactly it's not fitting?
I see you bought the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98850. This fits the 2011 Toyota Tacoma you entered in the fitguide as your vehicle; it fits both X-Runner and standard trim levels.
That said, there is a tech note in the fitguide saying it won't fit if you have the factory OEM hitch installed. It looks like the factory hitch utilizes bumper brackets that are welded or fixed to the hitch, and you'd maybe need to buy new brackets to install another hitch. Do you know if it had the factory hitch on there at one point in time and maybe those brackets are removed?
Otherwise, sometimes hitches are confirmed to fit, but show up a tiny bit tweaked or misaligned from shipping it there. We have articles covering how to correct this here: https://www.etrailer.com/faq-my-trailer-hitch-doesnt-fit.aspx?srsltid=AfmBOop-qwhLdVvcaf3_Wgy60jG6-p_JweLDiqiKTi_ay7SN2P0CimFu

Hi, 2010 Tacoma it fit fine. But I did loosen the bumper. Installed everything and tightened back up

No issues here. I put it on my father in laws truck. If the truck has been rear ended you may have issues I struggled with installing a hitch on my 2002 Explorer Sport Trac after being rear ended by and Uber driver.

For what it is worth, I purchased this hitch for my 2015 Tacoma, and although I didn't install it my self the installation garage had no complaints about fit and they installed it within an hour.
