I buy two allwais say thats for Toyota Tacoma 2005 and does not true, can you please tell me how wide is. my chasis is 40 1/1 wide if thats the side I buy for you. thanks

I couldn't find an order with us so I'm not sure what you purchased before but etrailer hitch you're looking at, part # e98850, is custom designed to fit the Toyota Tacoma from 2005 through 2015.
I'm also not sure where you're measuring exactly. This hitch is about 38 inches inside the brackets and about 35-1/4 inches center on center between the holes that mount to the bottom of your truck's frame. I've made a diagram to show where I measured, as well as a video from when we installed it on a 2013 which is the same generation as the 2005.
I also had a thought that maybe the hitch for the 2004 Tacoma, part # 13013, fits your truck so I measured it as well. It's wider than the newer hitch at about 41-1/4 inches inside the brackets and 38-13/16 inches across the center of the holes going into the bottom of the frame. This picture is attached as well. So is an install video on a 2003 Tacoma.

Charles, I just returned two Curt hitches for a 2013 Tacoma through Amazon. My chassis measures 37.25" at the outer portions. Both of the Curt hitches measured 37" exactly. After reading your comments, I decided to try the Etrailer hitch and hope it fits.
