Spindle and Hub Replacement for Tie Down 3750 Torsion Axle

Updated 04/06/2026 | Published 03/31/2026

Question:

I have a tandem axle trailer with Tie Down 3750 torsion axles. I want to replace the spindles and hubs. Can anyone tell me what I need to get? I am leaning towards Vortex hubs but am open to other brands.

Hello David, thanks for reaching out.

Even though your Tie Downs are technically 3,750 torsion axles, you'll want a standard 3,500 lb hub and spindle setup. That means a spindle like the CE Smith Tapered Weld on spindle # CES98WR that uses a 1-3/8" inner and 1-1/16" outer bearing.

Our etrailer Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles has a 5 on 4-1/2 pattern # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K. The idle hub includes bearings, races and seals.

While we don't carry Vortex Hubs, the specs show they use a triple lip grease seal. So we would need to replace the seal in the kit I referenced with # DX49CR.

If you would like to reply back with the style of hub you have and bolt pattern, I can make sure we have exact fits.

Is your trailer typically in or near water?
