Looking for Cushioned Shank for Blue Ox Weight Distribution System

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 11/10/2025

Question:

Trying to determine if this will work for my trailer TV- 2025 Silverado 1500 LTZ with Max Pro towing package Trailer- 2024 AS Flying Cloud 27 FBQ WD-Blue Ox with 1000lb bars 1. Is this the right Shocker? 2” versus 5” ? 2. Planning to add a 3” lift to the trailer to avoid dragging. Will this Shocker allow me to raise the ball 3”’ to keep trailer level? 3. Will my tailgate still open with this attached to the truck? Appreciate any advise you have…thanks Tim

Hey Tim, the Shocker Air Equalizer for Weight Distribution Hitch # SHK68VR is compatible with your WD system and the hitch of your truck but I don't have a way to know if the 2 inch of drop it can provide would be adequate or if you would need more drop. To determine the amount of drop you'd need you would need to measure from the bottom lip of the coupler lip on your trailer when level as well as the distance from the top of the hitch opening to the ground. The difference between these two dimensions is the drop you'd need.

We have the part # SHK77YR which can provide 4 inches of drop as well.

You'd also need to consider the height changes of the trailer after installing the 3 inch lift as well.

Your tailgate will still open with either of these installed. If you see the attached picture you can see it sits lower than the GM bumper.

Hey Tim, how did things turn out with the Shocker Air Equalizer for your Silverado and Flying Cloud setup? Did the 4-inch drop version give you the level ride you were after once the trailer lift was added? Your update could make it easier for others working through a similar setup.
