Can Furrion Chill Cube Operate With RV Furnace  

I see that the back of this thermostat has a separate spot that has "gnd" and "furn+" terminals. I only have two wires (red and white) coming from the furnace in my ceiling. I traced them back to the furnace and they are both connected to blue wires that say "thermostat" on them. I believe these just signal wires. Are these the two wires that i should connect to that side of the thermostat?

Hey Robin H. The problem (at least for me) is that the furrion chill cube fan turns on even in heat mode. This draws too much power away from the furnace while its trying to fire up. The furnace fan will turn on but it doesn't have enough power for the igniter. The thermostat will eventually say "Lo" and turn off the furnace fan. I called furrion support and they said that there is currently no way to prevent the fan from turning on in heat mode, so my only option was to return the single zone thermostat, use the remote control for the ac unit and use a honeywell heat only battery powered thermostat for the furnace. This method works. It's unfortunate that I had to separate the ac unit and furnace. All they have to do to fix this issue is to have the single zone thermostat not turn on the fan while in heat mode. Im sure that the engineers over at Furrion can make this happen.

There is a solution for using the Furrion wall thermostat, and to be able to run your Suburban furnace from the same thermostat. The Suburban propane RV furnace, uses two wires for the heat call. In essence, all you need to do to make the furnace run, is to touch those two wires together. Those two wires are run via phone cable from your furnace to the air box. In the air box is the other 6 (or8) wire phone/data cable that runs to where your Dometic wall thermostat is. Once you identify those cables you can proceed. Identify the furnace control wire, by simply touching them together. The furnace should kick on. Order a simple 4 wire automotive relay, one that has a metal tab for easy mounting in the air box. On the back of the Furrion wall thermostat are 6 places for your control wire. Use up the 4 needed to connect the new AC, the B and A, and 12 volt, GND,(Blue, Purple, Red and Green. If the colors don't match with what you have, ie I used a brown instead of purple. Take notes. On the right side are the two furnace data outputs. One is GND, the other is +12 volts. When the thermostat calls for heat, it simply provides 12 volts from the thermostat. That will not turn on your furnace, and you could fry your furnace control board hooking it up directly to the furnace control wires. Those two wires from the Furrion wall thermostat will be hooked up to the coil side of the relay. When the heat call comes, this will close the contacts for the two wires from the furnace turning it on. I am a 40 year retired Operating Engineers out of Alaska, I was an industrial electrician along with other duties. For me this was a simple thing to work out in my head. I read somewhere someone else did this with success using a small relay. Note that the old Dometic I took out does the same thing, there are relays in that box too.

I purchased the Furrion Chill cube and Furrion Chill cube thermostat so I could also work the RV Furnace from the thermostat. I followed the YouTube video from eTrailer on the installation of both but the furnace still is not working from the thermostat. Is it possible to send me a wiring diagram to make sure I have it wired properly. Thanks!
