Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Shocker Air Equalizer with the two inch shank for weight distribution hitch, has a 12,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this is a shock absorbing air equalizer. It'll add instant air ride to your existing weight distribution system. Basically, you can easily bolt your existing weight distribution head to your air equalizer right here and it will fit most major brands of weight distribution hitch heads.
This kit will include everything shown here on the table. It includes this XR channel mount base frame, the air equalizer, and then these two D-ring hitch pins with clips. Now, this does install into a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver. Now, the hitch pin and clip to secure this to your hitch receiver is not included. You would have to supply that or we do sell those separate on a website.
They use a 5/8 inch diameter hitch pin. Now, this air equalizer here uses this built-in airbag and the bumper cushions on each side to absorb any road shock when you're towing with the weight distribution hitch. And how you put air into this is right here, there's a valve here that you take off the valve cap, hook your air hose to that and you can pump air in there or release air if you have too much in there. Basically what happens is when your trailer jolts forward or pulls backward, the airbag and these four bump stops here will dampen the road shock for a lot smoother ride. Also, what's nice is down here on the pivot bolt that this pivot's on, they have a grease Zerk fitting that'll let you install a grease gun on there and pump grease in there for easy maintenance.
Now on the airbag, you might wonder how do you set the air. What they recommend that after you hook up your weight distribution bars, you'll air this hitch until the truck side bump cushions. The truck side are gonna be the cushions right back here on both sides. There's one here and one over here. What you'll do is air these up until these bump cushions here are not compressed.
In other words, they'll just start being compressed and then that's when you got enough air in the bag. It gives you a good idea. You don't wanna compress them. It does use this solid heavy duty adjustable ball mount. As you can see, it'll provide eight holes with a seven inch range of adjustability to support a nice wide range of towing needs. The distance between those eight holes is one inch so it will give you a maximum rise of five inches, maximum drop of two inches. And we mentioned these mounting pins right here. They're very easy to remove mounting pins. It has the large D-ring handles you can see right here that your whole hand can grip onto. Makes it real easy to grasp. No more fumbling with any of those small hitch pin heads. And over here, it uses the large safety clips that make it easy to secure the pins. So all you have to do is pull out your clip, pull out your pin, do that, and then you can disconnect it. And then when you put it back in, you slide your pin in, take the large clip, push it on to secure it, and you're all ready to go. Now, they do use grade 50 steel plate construction. Cold rolled steel shank provides maximum durability. All the parts are shock blasted and then black powder coated to prevent rust. And it is a very easy installation. As we mentioned, what you wanna do is measure your weight distribution hitch head. The air equalizer right here is where your hitch head will attach to and you can see the holes here. It does fit a hitch head range that has a 2-1/2 inch center to center or a 3-3/4 inch center to center bolt pattern. So basically this measurement here between the two center to center is 2-1/2 inches. If you have the larger one, it's from here to here. That's the 3-3/4 inch center to center bolt patterns. And as we mentioned, it fits most major brands of the weight distribution hitch heads. The channel style XR mount right here also works with all Shocker hitch balls, mount, including a single ball, pintle hook, draw ball, clevis mounts, and many more that we do sell. Inside width on this channel is 3-3/4 inches. Again, the application is two inches by two inches. Gross towing weight capacity of 12,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity of 1,200 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Shocker Air Equalizer with the two inch shank for your weight distribution hitch.
