Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Shocker Air Equalizer with the two inch shank for weight distribution systems. It has a 12,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this is a shock absorbing air equalizer, which will add an instant air ride to your existing weight distribution system. Basically, your weight distribution head would bolt right here onto the air equalizer.
And this kit will include everything shown right here on the table. It includes this XR channel mount base frame, which is the black portion of it. The air equalizer, which is all the gray portion of it. And then as you notice it comes with these nice two of these D-ring hitch pins and clips that hold the air equalizer to the channel mount. Now this is designed to install into a two inch by two inch trailer hitch receiver.
When you do slide it in, it does require a hitch pin and clip to secure it to your hitch receiver. So you notice there's two hitch pin holes here. So you pick the hole that works correctly for your application. Now the hitch pin and clip is not included. You would have to supply that, or we do sell those separately on our website.
It does require a pin that has a diameter of five eighths of an inch. That's the diameter of these two holes right here. Now this air equalizer will use this built in air bag and the bumper cushions, two over here and two over here, to help absorb road shock when you're towing with the weight distribution hitch. And the way you put air into this bag or take air out, right here is the valve. You just take off the cap, connect your air hose to that, and you can pump air in or take air out.
Basically what happens is when your trailer jerks forward or pulls backward, the air bag and then the four bump stops will dampen the road shock for a lot smoother ride. What's nice down here is the pivot bolt that this air equalizer pivots on. So you'll notice on this side here, one end it has a grease zerk fitting attached, which allows you to put a grease gun on there and pump grease into the bolt to lubricate that pivot bolt for easy maintenance. Now on the airbag, you might wonder how do you set the air They do have instructions that'll describe how to do it, but it's pretty simple. After you hook up your weight distribution bars on your system, you'll air the hitch until the truck side of the bump cushions, which is this side over here closest to your truck, and the ones over here they are not compressed like they are right now. If you start putting too much air in there, they'll compress and then you don't wanna do that. You wanna take the air out and have them loose like this 'cause this airbag will move back and forth. This is a nice, solid, heavy duty adjustable ball mount. It will provide eight holes. Gives you a seven inch range of adjustability to support a wide range of towing needs. So you can then put this and adjust it to whatever height you need. The maximum rise position if you move this into the highest position, that'll get you five inches of maximum rise. If you put it into the lowest drop position, it'll get you a maximum drop of two inches. And the distance between these adjustment holes center to center is one inch. We mentioned the pins right here and clips. They're very easy to remove, mounting pins and clips. If you notice they have a large D-ring handle on one side, makes it easy to grip. And there's no more fumbling with the little small hitch pin head. And over here, if you notice they have the large safety clips. It makes it very easy to remove them or insert them. So basically if you take these pins and clips out, you're can adjust this area equalizer to the height you need. This is a grade 50 steel plate construction. It's a cold rolled steel shank provides maximum durability. All these parts are shot blasted and powder-coated to prevent rust. And it is a very easy installation. You just insert this into your two inch hitch receiver. And then what you'll do is measure your weight distribution hitch head. This air equalizer will fit heads that have either a two and a half inch center to center measurement. If it has a two and a half inch center, then you'll use these two holes. They're measured center to center two and a half inches. If it's a larger three and three quarter inch center to center bolt hole pattern, then you'll use these two holes. That's the larger one. You just bolt your head to these holes right here. And those two patterns will cover most major brands of weight distribution hitch heads. The channel style mount right here will work with all. You could take the air equalizer out with these pins, and you can still use this mount for any single ball mount, pintle hook mount, drawbar mount, clavis mount. They do make many attachments that'll fit into this channel mount, and we do sell those separately on our website. The inside width on this channel is three and three quarter inches. Few specs on this, the application again is two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. Gross towing weight capacity of 12,000 pounds, tongue weight capacity of 1,200 pounds. But that's gonna do it for the review on the Shocker Air Equalizer with the two inch shank for weight distribution systems..
