Do you have a heat strip I can make fit the 18k unit.Or when are you adding reverse valve so we have a heat pump also!

Hey Jon; I was actually just talking to Furrion about heat options for the Chill Cube yesterday (1/21/2025). At this time, the only way to have heat with this unit is through a furnace on a ducted setup. The Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat # FR49TD (black) and # FR69TD (white) come with a wall mounted thermostat capable of running a furnace.

So is this an inverter style ac unit and are they coming out with a reversing valve kit for heat ? and does it come with all inside parts and wireless thermostat to just add 120v ac and run it .I bought a dometic and then it took me a month to get all the RIGHT parts from Dometic (3 times) to get to work. Please provide me with all the part #'s to run it as a ac unit. Thanks Jon

@Jon it is a variable speed AC that dynamically adjusts just like an inverter style AC. It will take less power and have more consistent cooling. They have no plans to come out with a reverse valve kit for heat at this time. The four part numbers I listed out at the bottom of the answer above come with everything you need to run the AC. You will have to choose between ducted or ductless depending on your setup and then the color. @RobinH i would like to circle back to this question as I heard that they will be releasing an 18k ac with heat pump version in the near future. Can you confirm and if so what are they looking at for a release date? Additionally, why don’t the have a wall thermostat that Controlls both your units. I know very few rv’s that have only one unit. @PatH all I've seen is rumors on the internet, we haven't heard anything directly from Furrion. The last thing they told us was that the heat strip would be released, nothing about a heat pump. Sometimes these products just "appear" out of nowhere though. It may also be something they only release at the OEM level for a while before making it available to the aftermarket, just like the regular Chill Cube. When you say both units you mean like a multi-zone setup? Furrion hasn't released anything aside from the single zone so that is really up to them. They may be working on this as well, not sure. We're coming up on a year now with the Chill Cube and I believe we're looking into some other smart thermostats that might work with the Chill Cube and allow multi-zone. However, nothing has been added to our site yet. A single remote can actually operate both and work that way but it has to have line of sight for both units to send the signal.

@Steve it must be related to what I said about being OEM only then. That is a brand new Grand Design so it is the going to be a prime candidate to roll out a new product. The Chill Cube was available for quite some time at the OEM level before it was available for aftermarket sales. I think that also gives them a chance to test it and work out any issues before they start selling it on a larger scale. Might also be that they need to produce enough to keep up with demands at the OEM level and aftermarket sales. The Chill Cube sold out almost instantly this last year and that left everyone waiting months during the heat of the summer if they wanted to upgrade to one of the best systems out there and not go with something else. We usually get updates when they come to visit but that is maybe twice a year and they only touch on new things that will be available for aftermarket sale. If the heat pump version isn't one of them it won't really be brought up, at least not in detail. Also, they're part of Lippert. They're so massive at this point sometimes communication isn't the best.

@Michael if you want everything to work together the answer is yes. You will need one of the units that comes with the thermostat which are as follows: -Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - White # FR69TD -Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box, Thermostat - Ducted - Black # FR49TD You can also leave your existing thermostat to run on its own and have the AC run independently with the ADB and remote acting as the AC thermostat. If you decide to go this route the # FR39TD or # FR99TD listed in the original answer are what you need. Most people swap out the wall thermostat so it is all connected.

@RobinH Just trying to be clear to be sure before I order. I have a 2003 Fleetwood Bounder 35R (Ford) and the replacement search says to order the 13.5k BTU unit FR82PV which comes with Coleman Mack wiring harness and spacers. I think it is better to upgrade to the Cube system for max cooling so I should order the unit FR99TD to replace both of my ducted units? Then my wall thermostat will still control the Furnace Only, and will one remote control both AC units or just the unit each remote shipped with? The reason no wiring harness is included is the Cube units are not connecting to the wall thermostat? What about the coleman spacers?

@SteveS it doesn't include a wiring harness because it is a complete replacement. We actually don't recommend the adapters anymore since there are too many compatibility issues. They're going to be phased out soon as everything is getting replaced with R32 anyway. I also agree that the Chill Cube is a better upgrade/choice. The # FR99TD is the correct system for your ducted setup. Your existing thermostat will continue to run the furnace and then you can use one or both remotes. They aren't tied to a particular unit, it is more a matter of which one is in range since it uses IR. Even if the remote is out of range the ADB has its own controls and sensor to hold temp.

@Rob by HP do you mean heat pump? I don't expect them to ever come out with a model that has a heat pump. We have not heard anything about the heat strip yet. They're probably too busy trying to keep up with the demand for the Chill Cube in the summer heat since they keep running out of stock.

Not that furrion ac units are the same because they are better units a dometic requires a heat strip a controller box and a new thermostat to be able to install a heat strip. The cost is$400 for everything. My understanding is the Furrion is a quiet unit,it might cost more but you don’t have to yell above the unit to talk

@Brett the Chill Cube is very quiet. We installed one on my friends trailer and it actually made us laugh because it is so quiet compared to others. This is especially true once you get it up and running and everything is holding at a steady temperature. I have a bit more information and some charts on the volume if you check out the link below.

I have a 2021 KZ 382mbq. The a\c on my fifth wheel does not have a distribution box cut into the ceiling. Can the chill cube a\c be installed without the distribution box in the ceiling?

@MichaelG unfortunately it is required as part of the system. We are currently waiting for some low profile GE units that work with that kind of setup but none of our AC systems can function without an ADB at this time.

Robin, my rv currently has a Coleman with heat pump and it is a Whisper Quite. I would like to purchase a Chill Cube with heat pump, can this be installed with little modifications also what is the temperature range for the Furrion heat pump?

@Tony you won't have to modify your RV but you will have to swap out the air distribution box with the AC unit. Furrion did a pretty good job with the Chill Cube to make this as simple as possible. Since it has a remote you don't have to worry about changing the wall thermostat either. There is no listed temperature range at this time. I'm guessing your Coleman is a 15k class unit so you can expect the Chill Cube heat pump to perform at the same level as your existing heat pump at a minimum. Realistically it will be better, but that can be hard to judge with factors like current outside temperature impacting performance/effectiveness. Is your current setup ducted or ductless?
