Question:

Looking to replace my DUO-THERM by DOMETIC air conditioning unit on my2000 chateau travel Trailor. Was going to attempt to do it myself. Can it be swapped out without having to replace thermostat? I understand that the government has done away with the old systems.looking for the correct replacement unit and any additional information. Thank you.

Hello David, thanks for reaching out. It is possible to replace your Dometic AC, but all of the replacement option will involve replacing the entire AC system: rooftop unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. With RV ACs going to the new R32 refrigerant, new units are not backwards compatible with older AC systems. That said, to replace your AC I recommend the following:

This comes with everything you need to replace/upgrade your AC system. You get the rooftop AC unit, distribution box, controller, wall thermostat and start capacitor. This will work with both ducted and ductless systems.
