Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Replace Dometic Duo Therm in RV

Updated 06/04/2025 | Published 06/01/2025

Question:

Hello, Currently I have a Dou-Therm 57915.541 air conditioner and the Dometic Dou-Therm 3107206.017 ADB Kit. Do you know if the Advent ADV86SR will be a direct fit? Actually I just replaced the ADB kit with a new original part and was a direct fit but we are realizing that we will also need to replace the ac unit as it is not as cold as it used to be. Thank you

Hey George, you can upgrade your Duo Therm to an Advent Air but you have to go with a new lower unit at same time so instead of the # ADV86SR you'd need the part # ADV92SR which comes with the lower unit as well as a thermostat. At one point we thought the Advent and Dometic upper units were interchangeable but we learned it doesn't work reliably so only solution is to replace all of it.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that this will be installed on a Jayco Baja Pop-Up and am a little worried about the fitment for the air distribution box since the unit is installed to the left of the roof and not centered. I need to double check the current ADB measurements and make sure this new one will work. It currently appears to be the same ADB as what comes with ADV23SR. Also, not sure how much of a difference a 13.5 to 15K BTU unit would make and especially on a pop-up. I know the measurements for the ADB is '21x'21 in the ADV92SR kit and need to make sure it fit directly over the current one. Thanks again.

@GeorgeM For a pop up a 13.5k BTU unit would be just fine. For that the Advent Air part # ACM135BC would be what you'd want as it comes with the ductless lower vent assembly you need. This has the controls of the unit on the vent assembly. The vent assembly is going to be roughly the same size as what you have now so I wouldn't anticipate any fit issues. The part # ADV92SR you mentioned will also work but it's 15k btu and would require mounting a wall mount thermostat which is totally fine to do.
