Does Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch Have Trial Period

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/22/2025

Question:

For the Andersen Weight distribution hitch, is there any trial period to ensure it will work? Part Number: AN33VR If I only have a Ram 1500 towing a 30 TT with 850-950TW, should I buy the heavier TW version ie 1600 vs 1400TW to get more sway control?

Hi Chris; as far as I know no weight distribution hitch company has a trial period where you can test out their system. Andersen definitely does not. Based on the numbers you gave me Andersen would recommend the # AN33VR. Personally, I would not choose this WDH for your setup. I've had the pleasure of using this since it came free from an RV dealer with our Jayco TT. In my experience it does almost nothing, despite costing as much as other reputable WDH brands.

Instead, I recommend getting the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37120ET. This is a top of the line system that will perform as expected. It is designed for 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs of tongue weight so it will work well with your setup. You will also need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 for hitch ball installation. Hey Chris, did you decide to go with the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System for your Ram 1500 and trailer setup? I'm curious to know how it worked out for you, as it could help others make a more informed choice.
