Updated 05/07/2025 | Published 05/06/2025

Question:

I have a new to me 2023 Silverado 2500 with built-in electronic sway control. Will the andersen weight distribution hitch work with that? thanks!

Good morning Hurley (cool name by the way. I like the clothing brand Hurley). Also, congrats on the new-to-you Chevy!

That is an excellent question that comes up from time to time on various vehicles and weight distribution systems. So on your 2023 Silverado 2500, and any other applicable vehicle, you'll want to turn off / disable the OEM electronic sway control so that you can use a weight distribution system like the Andersen WDH with 4" Drop/Rise - 16K GTW, 1.6K TW # AN33VR you were looking at (along with # AN88VR, # AN69VR, # AN53VR, and # AN28VR.

The reason for this is that the 2 systems will try to combat each other and not play nice, but the WDH will do a much better job of actually leveling the truck and trailer and distributing the load appropriately while reducing sway, whereas the electronic options only apply a little bit of trailer brake to try to stop it and it's not as effective.

I attached a snip it of the Andersen instructions that you can check out which gives a little more detail on this topic.
