Check tongue weight while you're already loading and hitching your trailer. This scale replaces your standard jack foot so you can check, adjust cargo, and recheck before towing without using a separate scale.

Highlights

  • Immediate Loading Feedback: See how repositioning gear affects tongue weight as you load your trailer.
  • 2,000 lb Capacity: Large analog gauge reads tongue weight in 50 lb increments.
  • Fits Compatible A Frame Jacks: Works with most A frame trailer jacks that use a 2" inner tube and interchangeable foot.
  • Four Mounting Positions: Rotate the scale to place the gauge where it is easiest to read.
  • Storage Bag Included: Keeps the scale protected and together with your towing gear between uses.
  • SnapPad Compatible: Accepts the 6" round SnapPad for additional ground contact and stability.

Features to know about

Check, Adjust, and Hitch Up

You finish loading your trailer, step back, and wonder if you put too much weight on the tongue. Instead of guessing, lower your trailer onto the scale and see the actual tongue weight before you hitch up. If the reading isn't where you want it, you can reposition smaller gear like coolers, tool boxes, or camping equipment and check it again while the trailer is still supported by the jack. If you're making larger load changes, such as moving an ATV or other heavy wheeled cargo, reconnect the trailer to your tow vehicle before repositioning the load. Because the scale temporarily replaces your jack foot, there's no separate tool to carry, position, or put away every time you want to check the load. The analog gauge reads up to 2,000 lbs in 50 lb increments, giving you a clear reference before you leave the driveway.

Built for Your Jack

This scale fits most A-frame trailer jacks with a 2" diameter inner tube and an interchangeable foot. Four mounting positions let you rotate the gauge toward the side that's easiest to read, and the included black nickel hitch pin and clip keep the scale securely attached to your jack. An included storage bag keeps the scale protected and contained when you're not using it. The aluminum body and base resist corrosion, while the steel gauge stands up to repeated use during loading and hitching. If you want a larger footprint under your jack, the scale also works with the 6" Round SnapPad (SN47FR - sold separately).

Tested, Trusted, and JD Approved

JD from Big Truck Big RV has spent years towing, camping, and putting trailer equipment through real use. Products that carry the BTBRV name solve problems trailer owners actually run into, and this jack foot scale is no exception. It gives you a practical way to verify tongue weight during a step you're already taking before every trip.

Very Nice little scale! I was able to determine my tongue weight in a matter of minutes. I have always been curious how much the tongue weight was on my travel trailer. Now I know! Tongue was 865 pounds. Loaded weight of my travel trailer is right around 7,100 pounds. This puts my tongue weight right around 12% of the trailers total loaded for a trip weight. Right in the sweet spot of where it should be. Also came in a very Nice padded protective case.

OK, I have been worried (concerned?) about my tongue weight after increasing battery capacity and traveling with full propane tanks, and all the stuff in the bed of the pickup. To let you know, I travel in a Ford F150 pulling a small, 20 foot Lance travel trailer. Towing capacity is not an issue, but truck payload is top of mind. I did a marathon CAT scale run (Truck, truck plus trailer, truck trailer no weight distribution...) But now I swap the foot on the jack, put her back down on the ground, and read the tongue weight. Easy, simple fast.
A couple tips: Get the height of the hitch when you read the scale back to the height when on the receiver. A better reading. And don't travel with the foot scale permanently on the trailer. It's an analog gauge that could be damaged by rocks, etc.
This thing is part of my "kit" now. There are fancier ones that read to heavier weights, but I did not need that. Note the scale capacity is 2000 pounds.
Happy travels

@ChristopherH Hi Christopher. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so travel seems to be spring, early summer, late fall through spring. Wild fires are killing me... That said the Wallowa mountains and lake, Metolius, McKenzie, and Chetco river drainages all have been spectacular. Just before, a Southwest trip was memorable with plenty boon docking. Pups and I have loved it. You folks have helped me with quite a few things that have made travels much better. Thanks!

The scale was delivered in a timely manner, in a well protected package. It is very easy to use, by just putting it in place of the foot on my power jack, and then jacking it up. I'd say it was very accurate, within 20 lbs of the known tongue weight of my trailer, 980 vs 960 lbs., so it worked well with heavy weights. It needs to be treated like a precision instrument, shouldn't really toss it in the back of the truck or left on the jack while traveling. Comes with a nice, well-padded storage case. Great for verifying loads that change a lot because it's so easy and quick, br checking tongue weights when you change how you load your rv.

This scale is a great tool. Perfect size and price point. I needed a tongue weight for my camper but didn’t want to spend over a hundred dollars for something I would only use once in a while. Easy to work with and use. Very pleased with this purchase.
by:
Very easy install. Replaces the foot pad on my trailer jack. Easy to read in the 0 - 350lb range. Just what I needed to verify my teardrops tongue weight. I'm only going to use it when loading up for a trip and plan to keep it in the included storage case. Happy with my purchase.
by:
It showed up on time however it is 500lbs off my tongue weight it 1000lbs cat scale verified safe weight verified and race scale verified. I got this so I didn't need to borrow or pay for them scales however now I will be out shipping cost. And the guy I dealt with on the phone didn't understand how scales work. Asked for a replacement or refund he said I will receive a email at some point to return it for a refund. We shall see.
by:
I've wanted to check my tongue weight for some time but just didn't want to take it somewhere and entrust someone else to give me an unbiased report. When I found a tongue weight scale so reasonably priced, I couldn't resist. I've now used it to help balance the load on my single-axle camping trailer. Great!
by:
Works as advertised; No surprises after weighing things, but provides a sense of security after getting specific numbers on the hitch weight.
by:
This is great for my purposes. I was unsure of the tongue weight of my 9.9K trailer. Found out it is only 650lbs empty. Using this eased my worries of overloading my hitch. Awesome stress reliever.
by:
Purchased the scale to help make sure I wasn’t overloading tongue weight. easy to connect to existing tongue Jack. makes it easier to know if you are overloading or not would recommend this to anybody wanting to know the weight of the trailer, happy with the purchase.
by:
It's avery affordable way to find your tongue weight, and it only took a few minutes to find and know it's in safe limits.
by:
I like it much better than the scale that goes in the hitch ball end it's more compact and has it's own storage bag plus not getting an greasy hands.
by:
It is a must to be able to keep your truck and trailer safe for you and your family. I can put it on and load my RV properly. No guessing, just gives you the peace of mind knowing you have the proper toung weight before you leave the driveway.
by:
Works great. I have 5 trailers and this scale make it easy to check tongue weights.
by:
It worked. But the gauge doesn’t like the rain and it fogged the lens. I would like to leave it permanently installed but the instructions say not to. Build a little more quality into it so I can use it as the permanent foot. Installing it just to verify weight and then having to remove and replace with the original foot is a waste of time and effort for me
by:
I'm happy with this scale. I pull an A-frame camper with a 2012 and now 2026 Sienna and have been guessing at tongue weight for years. Turns out I was close but now know for sure. Very easy to use.
by:
seems to be built well and packaged well also. works as it should and has showed me that i need to add weight to my tong. i would recommend to anyone who wants to keep their weight on trailer tong as it should be to keep trailer from fishtailing.
by:
This is an affordable gauge to check your tongue weight without going to a truck scale. Glad to find it!
by:
Great service and quick shipping! Two thumbs up!!!!
by:
On the 2nd use, the scale drifted downward and began to leak. I gave 2 stars because customer service promised to send a new one.
by:
Simple to use. Showed I had too much tongue weight>
by:
Foot scale arrived real quick, haven’t used it yet but looks like good quality. E Trailer is great company to do business with.
by:
This gave me peace of mind knowing im goin down the road with safe legal limits hauling a toy hauler.
by:
Simple and easy to use. I'll eventually get to a Cat scale and verify the weight, but this gives me a great idea of how much I can store in the trailer and truck.
by:
Easiest weigh to weigh your tongue weight!

  • Why Choose BTBRV Trailer Jack Foot Scale Over Standalone BTBRV 2,000 lb Scale
Hey Tom, great question! Both products provide an easy way to measure tongue weight, but they excel in different situations. The BTBRV Trailer Jack Foot Scale # BTBRV014 measures tongue weight at the trailer jack, so you don't need to position a separate scale under the coupler. This can be especially convenient if you're making adjustments while the trailer is already parked or if you'd rather not move your tow vehicle out of the way to place a standalone scale. If you regularly tow multiple...

  • Can Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack With Tongue Weight Scale Stay On Year Round During Winter ?
Hey there! I wouldn't recommend leaving the Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale # BTBRV014 installed throughout a Wisconsin winter. We don't have a specific minimum temperature rating, but the gauge face has been known to fog up when exposed to rain and snow, and prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures and moisture could potentially affect its accuracy. I'd recommend using it for the scale then removing it after that. If you'd prefer something more weather-resistant, I recommend...

Hey Jim, you can do both ways with the part # BTBRV014 if you like but it really comes down to what you are wanting the tongue weight info for. If you want to know your tongue weight without WD system hooked up then do it without the system hooked up. Now if you want to know how much tongue weight the WD system would be taking off then you would need to take that measurement before and after the system is hooked up.

  • Tongue Weight Limit for a 10,000 lb BTBRV InstaLatch Ball Mount
Hello Curtis! You'll need to check your loaded tongue weight to know for sure. The BTBRV InstaLatch Ball Mount # BTBRV011 is rated for 10,000 lbs of trailer weight, and has a 1,000 lb tongue weight limit. It is certainly possible to be under the towing capacity and still exceed the tongue weight rating. I recommend using the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV44FR or # BTBRV014 to check your actual tongue weight once the trailer is loaded. Both measure up to 2,000 lbs, so you'll...

  • Can BTBRV Trailer Jack Foot Scale Permanently Remain On Trailer Jack
Hey Brian! The BTBRV Trailer Jack Foot Scale # BTBRV014 is not designed to live on your trailer jack permanently. If you're traveling or storing your trailer you definitely want to remove it and replace it with your standard foot. If you're at the campsite for a few days and leave it on there that won't be an issue. If you forgot and left it on it wouldn't instantly be ruined, but the gauge isn't designed to take hits from road debris and could end up damaged if you drive with it attached....

Hi David! With the Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale with Tongue Weight Gauge - 2,000 lbs # BTBRV014 installing under the jack to get your tongue weight, it technically will be a little heavier than if you measured at the coupler (like with the Big Truck Big RV # BTBRV27FR). • Is the Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale Hydraulic, Pneumatic, or Spring Driven?
Hello Scott, Thanks for finding a reason to write into us. The Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale with Tongue Weight Gauge # BTBRV014 is hydraulically operated. • Is The Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale A Mechanical Device Or A Load Cell Device?
Hey thanks for reaching out. The Big Truck Big RV Trailer Jack Foot Scale # BTBRV014 is a mechanical hydraulic scale, not a load cell or electronic device. It uses a sealed hydraulic piston to apply pressure to an analog gauge, so there are no electronics, batteries, or load cells inside the unit. That hydraulic design makes it very durable and simple to use, but I still don't recommend leaving it under the trailer during long-term storage. It's intended to take a tongue weight measurement...

  • Explaining the Accuracy of BTBRV014
Hey Marc! The +/-5% accuracy specification refers to the scale's measurement tolerance. On a 2,000-lb capacity scale, that works out to about +/-100 lbs. at full capacity. As you pointed out, if you were measuring a much lighter tongue weight, such as around 400 lbs., a +/-100-lb tolerance would be much more significant. That's why this type of mechanical tongue weight scale is best used as a general setup tool rather than a precision measuring instrument. It's designed to help you verify...
