Question:
Looking to make a purchase. 1 one of the local recommended installers doesn’t wish to install it as they’re not aware of whether or not the backup sensors can be simply disconnected and reconnected, and whether or not they will need recalibration. Can you answer this? Volvo XC 60 recharge. The Curt class 3, C92WR does not mention anything about heatshield, modification or interference with hands-free liftgate. However, the draw tight class four., 7619 mentions both of those. Any comment on this? Thank you.

Hello Jon,
I find it interesting that on the Draw-Tite you have to trim the heat shield and on the Curt you do not, which really is the case.
With any aftermarket hitch there is always the possibility of the kick free sensor being covered, we installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C92WR and found that the sensor is not covered and works just fine.
As for unhooking the sensor, that will not be necessary, it is located behind the fascia and is not in the way of the install. If it were to be unplugged you just plug it back in, if a warning appears on the dash (e.g. “Rear Park Assist Unavailable”), it typically goes away once reconnected and the car is restarted. No recalibration needed.
If I were the installer I would want to install the Curt # C92WR over the Draw-Tite # 76194 because there is less steps. The hardest part of the install is dismembering the rear of the car to get to where the hitch needs to be installed. I attached an install video for the Curt hitch for you to take a look at.
What are you looking to use the hitch for?

The hitch is simply to pull a small trailer to haul our riding mower in for service, and hail stuff to and from our property (fallen limbs this summer). Thank you
