Features to know about

Clean Look Without the Bulk: Completely Hidden Hitch Design

When you’re not towing, you shouldn’t have to look at a big metal tube hanging under your bumper. This hitch mounts behind the bumper so the cross tube stays out of sight. Only the 2" receiver is visible when you’re using it, and when you’re done, you just unbolt the receiver and the hitch disappears from view. It keeps a factory-clean look while giving you full functionality for towing or carrying accessories.

Strength You Can Count On: Class II Performance

Even though it’s hidden, this hitch is built strong. It’s rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 300 lbs. That’s plenty for small trailers, cargo carriers, or bike racks. It meets SAE J684 towing safety regulations, so you know it’s been tested to handle real-world use.

Built for the Long Haul: Stainless Steel Receiver and Durable Finish

The stainless steel receiver resists rust and corrosion, while the alloy body combines recycled aluminum, steel, and stainless steel for strength without extra weight. A black powder coat finish adds another layer of protection against the elements. The result is a sturdy hitch that stays solid and looks good over time.

Easy to Install and Ready to Use: Bolt-On Design

You don’t need to drill or weld anything to get this hitch on your vehicle. It bolts directly in place with standard tools and hardware. Once installed, the removable receiver makes it simple to switch between hauling gear and keeping your rear end clean and streamlined when the hitch isn’t in use.

It took me just a little over 3 hrs to install on my own and I’m not a mechanic of sorts. The installation video online were spot on. Thank you!

awesome hitch hidden when you dont need it

by:

Everything fit and worked excellent! very good quality product. A lower price would be better.

great hitch for tesla model3

by:

Great service and super fast shipping!

by:

Fits well. Only drawback is it doesn’t have the quick release hitch component. The bolt takes extra time to remove

by:

The Ecohitch was installed and fit great! Looks clean and fits just like the pictures. Thank you.

by:

The hitch is very solid. Love that it is totally hidden when not in use. The install instructions, especially written (video was okay but left some things out), were lacking.

by:

Awesome team, thanks for the speedy shipping, awesome product and customer service.!!! Highly recommend this company. My hitch receiver was a little scratched but all is well.

by:

The instructions were not perfect but okay. Probably because this was a 2022 Tesla. I cut the removable plastic cover to fit tight around the hitch. I did not install wiring for lights since the hitch be used for a bike rack.

by:

Wow! I attach my Thule bike rack or my 4 x 8 trailer to this hitch that performs beyond my expectations!

by:

I wanted a trailer hitch to haul bags of mulch, lawn waste, etc. I was looking to save by installing it myself. Well I was a little worried that I was in over my head until I watched the videos. The videos made it quite manageable for me, a person who never works on cars. The trailer hitch for my 2023 Tesla Model 3 fit perfectly and was even easier to install than the one in the video. Possibly an updated design for the hitch. 1000% pleased.

by:

Quality and easy to install a hitch. Etrailer sent a YouTube link to help with the installation. Easy to follow. If you have any basic tool skills it’s a piece of cake. It just takes time. Good customer service. Use the hitch for my Yakima bike rack.

by:

I've installed a lot of hitches on trucks and cars, and this one is by far the cleanest. It took a bit more time to install, but the available video made it very clear and save a lot of time.

by:

Shipping was crazy fast. No issues with installation. Friend helped me, got it put on in 3-4 hours but he’s pretty handy and had the tools. Hitch receiver has been on for about 5 months now and no issues.

  • What is Weight of EcoHitch for 2018 Tesla Model 3 and Access Hole Cover to Preserver Aerodynamics
The weight of the EcoHitch part # EH84GR which fits your 2018 Tesla Model 3 is 45 lbs. When not in use you could use the access hole cover part # 306-XA2002 which would totally cover up the hole and would give you same aerodynamics as before the hitch was installed.

  • What Is A Good Wiring Harness For A 2019 Tesla Model 3
Hey Bjorn, We do have a wiring harness for that 2019 Model 3. Along with that hitch, # EH84GR, I recommend the wiring harness # 119250KIT. This is going to give you a 4 flat connection at the rear of the vehicle, and better yet it is a plug and play installation so it does not require any splicing! What are you looking to tow with your Tesla?

  • Compatibility of EcoHitch Stealth Hitch Receiver # EH84GR on 2020 Tesla Model 3
The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver part # EH84GR is a fit for the 2020 Tesla Model 3. The EcoHitch is completely hidden behind the bumper and has a removable square receiver tube. The receiver tube unbolts from the cross body of the hitch. When you put the receiver tube back in the hitch you have to tighten the bolt down. I have attached an installation video for your reference. An easier completely hidden hitch option for the 2020 Tesla Model 3 is the Stealth Hitches Rack Receiver...

  • Does Hitch for 2020 Tesla Model 3 Require Use of Stablizer Strap to Carry Bike Rack
At one point some of the hitches we offered did require the use of a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack but recently the one manufacturer that required this (Curt) decided it was not longer needed. So the EcoHitch you referenced part # EH84GR did not ever require the strap and currently still does not. This is the most hidden option we have has the lower hitch opening totally removes when not in use. The Curt Class III hitch part # C45FR that fits your...

  • What Type of Lower Fascia Trimming is Required to Install Hitch on 2020 Tesla Model 3
On the 2018 models it was true that you had to trim a hole in the lower rear fascia. However for your 2020 Tesla Model 3 to install the # EH84GR It is no longer necessary to trim it because they come with a knock out in that location so that the lower hitch opening can attach to the hitch's main crossbeam. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out on a similar 2021 Tesla Model 3.

The winner in terms of maximum clearance is the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # EH84GR. Most people would not assume that it comes off as it appears like a standard hitch, even if they knew it came off they'd have to have the correct size wrench on them to remove it, and even if knew it wouldn't really be of much value to anyone. While the # 119250KIT does need to attach directly to the positive post of a vehicle battery it does not draw any amperage unless there's a trailer connected to it so you do not need to worry about this draining the vehicle batteries when not towing.
