For a 2023 Volvo XC90 we have two different trailer hitch receiver options available. The Hidden Hitch by Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT82GR has a removable receiver to provide a clean factory look when not in use. Because of this it has a lower towing capacity at just 3,500lbs.
The other option is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76194, which will stick out under your bumper but comes with a 6,000lb towing capacity.
Note: You'll need to check the towing capacity of your vehicle and go with whichever rating is lowest.
If you occasionally tow a trailer use trailer hitch accessories like a bike rack, cargo carrier, etc. and like to keep a factory look then I recommend the # DT82GR. If you plan on using your hitch regularly or need the extra capacity then the # 76194 is the best option.
For the wiring I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118683. This harness will simply plug into your factory tail light wiring for easy installation. You will need to run the ground wire to your vehicle's frame and will need to run the power wire for the ModuLite to the battery using the included fuse holder.
If that trailer has brakes then you'll also need to install a 7-way # ETBC7 and a brake controller to actuate the brakes on the trailer. The # ETBC7 will come with everything you need to upgrade from a 4-pole wire harness to a 7-way. For The brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR. It has a super small footprint and is easy to use. I personally have this model in my truck and love it.
All-in-all the installation process for each of these parts is super simple, and if you choose to do it yourself then I recommend watching the attached installation videos below.
