Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

  • What Sizes Bolts Are Needed To Install a Trailer Hitch On a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox
There are a few different size bolts used to attach a trailer hitch to your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. In order to make sure you get the correct ones, I would need to know exactly what trailer hitch you have as some do use different lengths for this application. For example, if you have the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76028 then you will need four 1/2-13x1.50 carriage bolts, four M12x1.75x2.0 hex head bolts, along with several other spacers/nuts/washers/fishwire etc....

  • Towing Capacity of a 2012 GMC Terrain
According to the owner's manual for your 2012 GMC Terrain you are limited to a maximum gross trailer weight (GTW) of 1,500 lbs if you have the 2.4L I4 engine and 3,500 lbs if you have the 3.0L V6 engine. Therefore, as long as the trailer does not exceed the vehicle's GTW then you can tow it. In order to tow a trailer with your Terrain you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball if you do not already have them. For a trailer hitch I recommend the etrailer Trailer...

  • Towing Capacity of 2012 GMC Terrain
According to the information contained in the owner's manual beginning on page 9-56 of the owner's manual, the tow capacity of the VEHICLE will depend on the engine size and whether or not the vehicle has brakes. Terrain models with the 2.4 L engine can tow up to 1500 lbs and with the 3.0 L, up to 3500 lbs. GMC states that if the trailer doesn't have brakes, the capacity is reduced to 1000 lbs. The capacity of the HITCH itself should be listed on a sticker affixed to the hitch, which would...

  • Trailer Hitch, Wiring and Brake Controller Recommendation for 2005 Saturn Vue
If the goal is to tow a trailer with your 2005 Saturn Vue I have a better setup for you to consider. For a trailer hitch the etrailer part # e98865 has great capacities and since it's a 2-inch hitch it will give you the best options for future accessories and ball mounts. For trailer wiring the Tekonsha brand is the most reliable so for your vehicle the best option would be the # 118418. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller....

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver and Bike Rack Recommendation For 2015 Chevrolet Equinox
I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98865 for your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. This class III receiver will accept bike racks with a 2" hitch tube. The maximum tongue weight for the receiver is 350lbs which is more than enough for 2 bikes. The Thule Apex XT 2 Bike Rack # TH9024XT is the bike rack I recommend for your Equinox. It can carry 2 bikes up to 37.5lbs each and supports those bikes at 3 points to stop the bikes from swaying in the rack. A built in anti-rattle device,...

  • Troubleshooting Hitch Bolts Not Fitting Weld Nuts on 2006 Pontiac Torrent
Hey Anthony, thanks for reaching out! As a last resort, before taking your 2006 Torrent to a shop, you can try using a thread tapping tool for the M12 bolts to clear out those weld nuts. If that doesn't work, then taking it to a shop to get the etrailer Hitch # e98865 would be your best bet. I definitely feel your pain on the hitch not being a simple install. I put an etrailer hitch on my 2010 Town and Country and the factory bolts were used for the installation. They were stuck so bad...

  • What Size Bolts Come With The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver e98865?
Hello Robert, thanks for reaching out. The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98865 uses 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" long grade 8 bolts. Every 2013 Equinox will use this same size bolt. These are test fitted by the manufacturer, and the included bolts will always match the factory weldnuts. Also, we have installed this hitch several times here at our shop and have never had a problem with the bolts not fitting. That said, in some cases when the vehicle is older we do see issues with the factory...

  • Can A 2006 Pontiac Torrent Tow A 2400 Pound R-Pod?
Hi Adele! Your 2006 Pontiac Torrent, which is a name I haven't heard in quite some time, is indeed rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds. With that said, it is getting a little up there in miles and age, so I would have a trust worthy mechanic (absolutely NOT a dealership) go over it to make sure everything is still in good order. If they give you the all clear, there is no reason your couldn't tow a 2,400 pound R-Pod 18 wherever you want! Do you have all the parts needed for towing? If not,...

  • Availability Of Trailer Hitch For 1970 Volkswagen T2
Hey Richard, thanks for reaching out. Those old VW vans are pretty sweet, but sadly, there is no custom fit hitch made for this van. The only way to add a trailer hitch would be to use a universal adjustable hitch like the Curt # 13703. This has adjustable flanges that can be made to fit frames between 22" and 72" wide. It has a 2" receiver and a 3,500 lb towing capacity. It can be bolted or welded on. What most folks do with these is take it to a welder so they can fabricate something...

  • Need Help Identifying Trailer Hitch
Hello JJ, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you have a class 5 hitch of some kind, but without the model number it is impossible to know what vehicles it fits. Do you know what vehicle the hitch came from? We might be able to narrow it down that way, but in all reality without the model number there is really not much we can do to help here.

  • Why Would Trailer Hitch Install Hardware be Hard to Thread into Vehicle Weld Nut
For the hitches confirmed as a fit for your 2015 like the etrailer # e98865 the included bolts are size 1/2-13 x1.75 and M12x1.75x40 mm which is the same thread size as what you bought. Factory weld nuts notoriously get rust/dirt in them which prevents bolts from easily threading into them. Down below I attached a couple links that detail how to clean rusty or dirty weld nuts for you to check out as well.

  • Difficulty Threading in Bolts to Install Class III Hitch on 2016 GMC Terrain
What you mention is pretty common. In areas where salt and other corrosive chemicals are used on the roads in the winter, corrosion and other goop can get built up in the nuts that are welded up into the frame to receive the bolts. An easy way to clean those out would be to use a round profile wire brush along with some spray lubricant. The brush on a battery terminal cleaner like # DW00254 works very well. Spray a bunch of the lubricant up in there and give each nut a good scrub. In some...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Hitch Bolts Too Big for Weld Nuts on Vehicle
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98865 that you referenced is confirmed to fit your 2014 Chevy Equinox. What you are experiencing is not too uncommon and it sounds like you may have already looked into the cause. On vehicles that have seen a few winters the weld nuts can get a bit of corrosion in them that prevents the included bolts on a trailer hitch from being able to thread. This can definitely make it look like the nuts are too small for the provided hardware. You did mention...

The trailer hitch for a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98865 uses M12x1.75" grade 8 hex bolts. If you have misplaced these or simply need new ones, we do offer a complete hardware kit that comes with everything the hitch would have come with when new, the Replacement Hitch Hardware Kit part # RHK. The only thing I can tell from the photo you attached is that they are grade 8 hex bolts.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Hitch Receiver Bolts That Won"t Install in Factory Weldnuts
For your 2013 Chevy Equinox, the # e98865 you bought (according to the invoice associated with your email) is the correct fit. It is a fit for 2005 to 2017 models so it is likely there is either grime in the weldnuts or powder coat overspray that is in the threads that needs to be cleaned up. I don't think the bolts are too big... which should be M12-1.75 x 40mm. I've attached a help article on cleaning the weldnuts to assist.

The hitches like the etrailer part # e98865 for your GMC Terrain do come with install bolts that are size 1/2-13 x 1 3/4 and M12-1.75 x 40mm. We installed this hitch on a similar 2014 Terrain like yours with the included hardware that you can see at the attached install video link. The 5-Bike Apex XT # TH9026XT also has 28" long arms so the cradles are 5-1/2" apart which is the more traditional spacing, but it will make loading up your bikes a little more of a hassle.
