Is Bad Ground Cause For Turn Lights Not Working on 4-Flat For Ford Bronco

Updated 11/18/2024 | Published 11/15/2024

Question:

I have installed it and tested it. the running lights work and the brake lights work, but the turn signals are not working. i heard this could be because of an inefficient ground. my kit was missing the self tapping screw or it rolled away and i couldnt find it, so i unscrewed one of the 10mm screws holding the lights in and connected it there. is that a sufficient ground? or do you think there might be a different issue with the install?

Hi Rick,

Yep, I definitely believe the issue is due to the bad ground when installing the Curt T-Connector # C42WR on your Ford Bronco. From what you're describing that does not sound like a sufficient ground as you'll need it to just be a clean bare metal attachment.

ok - i moved the ground to the frame of the bronco underneath and it still only works for lights and brake lights, but not turn signals. I saw somewhere that some people have to cut the redish wire and join with the white wire on the ground. does this sound correct?

@Rick No, that's not something I've heard of; you have LED taillights is that correct? Just checking as this is the harness for LED lights while the # C87BR is for incandescent lights.
