Is Blue Ox SwayPro BXW0550 Underrated for 5,800 lb Dry Weight Travel Trailer

I recently bought a travel trailer TT and have the BXW0550 Blue OX Swing Pro WDH installed. The dry weight of the TT is 5800 lbs. with a GVWR of 7590 lbs. I believe the BXW0550 is underrated for my TT. Which Blue OX WDH do you recommend that I use. Can I just upgrade my springs and use the same head unit and clamp on lift brackets, or do I need to replace everything? Thank you!

Hello Bob; considering the fact that the # BXW0550 has a gross towing weight rating of 5,500 lbs you're overrated right from the start. Also, the tongue weight range is 350-550 lbs so I'm sure that is well over considering the fact that tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the trailer weight. The good news is you can upgrade the system by getting higher rated spring bars.
If I had to guess based on the dry weight and GVWR I would say the # BXW4007 is the right choice for your trailer. These spring bars have a tongue weight range of 750-1,000 lbs. A lot of trailers sit around 13% which would keep you in that range when empty and full loaded. However, I recommend using a scale like the # BTBRV44FR to measure the tongue weight of your loaded setup just to be sure.
