Question:
Hello I have a 2014 Chevy Equinox `4 Cyl. with all wheel drive. Can I flat tow my car even though it has "all wheel drive"? I read an article that if it's AWD you can't flat tow or drive train damage will occur and it stated that only Equinox's with front wheel drive can be flat towed behind an RV. Is that true?

Hey Roger, I checked the owner's manual and it looks like you will be fine to flat tow your AWD Equinox. They only harp on AWD vehicles being towed with only two wheels on the ground, but it was actually recommended to tow the AWD models with all four wheels on the ground.
So with that being said if you're interested in a complete setup you're going to need:
A base plate kit, the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523160-5,
A wiring kit, the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 with the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25, and the fuse bypass # RM-76517 for 4 cyl models.
A braking system, the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Flat Tow Brake System # RM-9400 with the stop light kit # RM-751439 and the 12v outlet kit # RM-9332,
And finally, a tow bar, the Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-676.
Since this process is quite involved, I'd recommend checking out the link attached to our installer locators. You have to scroll down the page just a bit, but you should come across a section that is titled "Local Tow Bar Installers In..". From here there will be a box to enter your ZIP. Simply plug in your ZIP code, and we will display all available installers near your ZIP that can install all of the equipment.

Hello Do I need the stop light switch kit RM751439 if I am going to install the diode kit RM15267 using the Road Master RM9400 to apply the brakes. In other words when the brakes are applied by the RM9400 won't the Equinox brake switch activate the brake lights? Why do I need a brake light switch if the car already has one?
