Tire and Wheel Options For a Thule 1700 Adventurer Trailer with 145/80r13 75T Tires

Question:
Hello I am looking for a spare tire and rim for my Thule 1700 adventurer trailer to be used as a spare. Thule doesnt make these trailers anymore, but it is super handy. I just need a spare or I can replace the 2 existing wheels/tires with 2 new wheels and 1 additional for a spare. The wheels are 13inch wheels with 4 lug pattern on 100mm lug offset. The tires are 145/80r 13 75t. Can you recommend something equivalent tire and rim for me to order one as a spare, or alternatively something that would work as a replacement and I will order 3 2 new wheels for trailer and one spare?. Thanks

I have an alternate option for you, but from what I found it appears the 145/80r13 75T is an automotive tire. We carry trailer tires, but not automotive tires and recommend the use of trailer tires on a trailer like your Thule Adventurer.
Since you have a 4 on 4 bolt pattern and a 13" tire, you can use a tire and wheel like the Loadstar ST175/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel # AM3S040. These will be a little different in size, so you would want to get 3 and use the 3rd as the spare.
The ST175/80-13 would be just shy of two inches taller than the tires you're using now, which would bring the tire just under one inch closer to the underside of the fender. You want to see at least 3-4 inches of clearance between the top of the tire and the underside of the fender when the trailer is fully loaded. So you will just want to measure the space from the top of your current tire to the underside of the trailers fender. If you have at least 4" of clearance currently, you can switch to these tires/wheels.

Scott - I too have an original Thule 1700 and appreciate your how-to on replacing those metric tires. Would you think the axle it came with is adequate for heavier loads the Kendra tires can support? The drop down axle spindle seems very unique to those trailers (mine have quite a bit of surface rust) - when do those need - if at all - replacement? If you can guide with some input on the general question of "Is my trailer suspension adequate for most loads at highway/hundreds of miles speed or dirt/off-road ventures" that would be appreciated. I've have thought about corner reinforcements to make the frame more rigid too....

I have a Thule 1700 trailer as well with the same tires. Did you ever find new tires for your trailer? Did you try the 175/80r13 tires that were recommended? I am in need of new tires for my trailer and am having no luck finding the 145/80r13
