Does 12 Volt Power Wire of 2020 Rav4 Trailer Wiring Have to Run to Vehicle Battery

Question:
I bought the Tekonsha 118801 kit for my 2020 RAV4 limited hybrid. Seems easy to install but wants a 12v+ connection straight to battery. For my very occasional towing, any reason I can’t use the rear cigarette lighter to access that 12v+ ??

I understand it's tempting to run the power wire of the # C56434 to a 12 volt source that's easier to get to but you do need to run it to the positive terminal of the battery to ensure the kit's circuit protection is in effect. Otherwise a short in the trailer wiring might cause damage to the vehicle wiring.
