Question:
Hello. I am needing to upgrade my 99.5 F350 from four flat to seven pin trailer wiring so I can have use of trailer brakes.I currently have Redarc part number RedFR24 In my cart. I am looking to use this with either part number 118243, or part number ETB37. Will I have full use of trailer brakes, running lights, and other safety lighting equipment with part number 118243? Is the only advantage of ETB37 keeping the use of four flat while upgrading to seven pin? From the notes, it looks like 118243 will plug directly into current wire harness and will be the easiest/quickest solution. Thoughts? If possible, please respond at your earliest convenience as this is a time sensitive matter.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Assuming you have the factory 4-flat, the easiest solution is the Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, 7-Way (Super Duty) # 118243. This includes the necessary fuses and relays which will give you all of the functions you have described and the ability to use the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR.
If the 4-way connection on your truck is not the factory 4-way then you would need the # ETBC7 instead. This is a universal kit so the installation is a little more extensive. It would be much easier to use the port at the back of your vehicle if you have it with the # 118243. Although the adapter that comes with this kit has a 4-way in addition to the 7-way, you could always buy a separate adapter like the # PK12716 if you need it.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
