Question:
I need to install a 7 blade trailer hookup on this truck so can have brakes and all the other necessary wiring. Is there a quick plug for tapping into truck wiring or do I have to cut and splice. Hoping for easy clean solution

The process to install a 7-way and trailer brake controller on your 1997 Ford F-350 is not very involved. For a 7-way, you can use the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185 as long as you already have a 4-way like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118316. The white wire on this adapter is for the ground, the black wire is for the 12 volt power, and then the blue is for the brake output. The good news is that you don't have to run the black and blue wires up to the battery/cab as the wires you need to connect them to should already be ran for you to a factory plug along the frame rail, usually on the driver's side, between the back tires and the rear bumper (see photo).
Once the above is done all you will need to do is obtain a brake controller and adapter, the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller part # 39510 and Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part # 3035-P is what I recommend. The rest is all plug and play.
