Everything in my kit was of great quality and most importantly I received it promptly after placing my order. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and very professional.

Thank you Cathy.

I am very pleased with the results of my installation of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 in my 1998 Toyota T100 using the ETBC6 installation kit. Patrick at etrailer provided information to help me know what to do, and I reviewed etrailer's video entitled "Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2002 Toyota Tundra" several times in preparation for the effort. The video is the most comprehensive of any I could find, showing what to do from beginning to end, even though the vehicle is different from mine. The ETBC6 kit included everything I needed (extremely convenient) except for a 1/2" grommet (which it should include for a few pennies more). The effort required about 5 hours. The most difficult part was determining which wire on the T100's Brake Switch (Green with White Stripe) to attach the red wire to from the Prodigy P2 because the Brake Switch is located in a very difficult location that could not be easily probed.

Weve used it several times throughout the past year and it works perfectly. I wouldnt pull a trailer without it.

by:

Already had a 7-way without brake controller and 12v power wires. Ordered this kit because it came with everything I needed but was cheaper than the ETBC7.

by:

Easy to install, great to have both 4 pin and 6 pin for variety of trailers.

by:

Good product at good price, and great support

by:

Product was as specified. Video tutorials made install easy. If you have any problems these guys are right on the ball. Can't say that enough.

  • Will the Hopkins Agility Brake Controller Fit My 2008 GMC Canyon
Brake controllers are not vehicle specific and can be installed in most any vehicle with proper wiring. If you would like to resubmit your question with a little further information I would be glad to provide instructions or any information that you need for installing the Hopkins Towing Solutions Agility Trailer Brake Controller, item # HM47294, in your vehicle. The year, make and model of your vehicle, and the type of trailer connector on the rear of the vehicle plus the type of connector...

  • Recommended Parts To Adapt 7-Way Vehicle Connector To 6-Way Trailer Connector.
Let's start with the vehicle side. If you don't already have trailer connector on your 2008 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118496. Once you have the 4-way, you can install either a 6-way or a 7-way. Factory tow packages come with a 7-way, but you can install a 6-way and be set for your camper. The Brake Controller 6 and 4 Way Installation Kit, 10 Gauge, # ETBC6 will give you everything you need to convert your 4-way...

  • Parts Needed to Install Redarc Brake Controller and 6-Way 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness
Hey Stephanie, since your 2023 Subaru Forester does not have any factory brake controller install wiring you would need to go with the parts you mentioned to install the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED52VR. The part # ETBC6 will convert the 4-way to a 6-way and will allow you to wire in the brake controller and the part # 18136 will give you a place to mount the 6-way as well. Now I would check to make sure the trailer you plan to tow has a 6-way and not the much more common 7-way. Usually...

  • Brake Controller Install on 1997 Chevrolet Pickup
This is a fairly straightforward install. GM has already run some of the necessary wiring from the rear frame rail area to the engine compartment, so you will see a blue wire for the electric brake function, and an orange wire which provides 12 volt power for trailer accessories like a breakaway kit near the end of the driver side frame rail. The orange and blue wires at the rear of the truck would attach to the appropriate poles on the 7-way trailer connector on the rear bumper. You can...

  • How to Connect a Trailer with 6-Pole to Vehicle with 4-Flat
In order to tow a trailer with what I assume is a 6-pole round trailer connector on your 2010 Subaru Forester with a 4-flat trailer connector all you will need is the 6-Way and 4-Way Flat part # ETBC6. This will give you everything to attach the wiring from the trailer to the tow vehicle. The 6-pole trailer connector on your trailer will allow for you to add brakes to the trailer.

  • Adapting a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector on 2011 Toyota Tacoma to 6 Round on 1983 Coleman Camper
Since your truck has a 4-Way flat connector and the trailer has a 6-Way round, adapter # HM47320 will not work. It is made to go from a 6-Way round on a vehicle to a 4-Way flat on a trailer. What you need is an adapter like # A10-6034VP. Your 4-way will plug into the adapter, and you will need to ground the white wire to the truck frame. The other two wires on the adapter are black for 12-volt power and blue for electric brakes. If you do not wish to use these functions, then you can tape...

If you have the standard US car connector, then yes this will do the trick. If you don't have that car connector, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC6. This kit includes all parts necessary to install an electric trailer brake controller in your vehicle. Plus, A 6-Way connector. If you are not wanting to use...

  • What is Needed to Install a Brake Controller and 6-Way Trailer Connector on a 2008 Honda Pilot
Since your trailer has a 6-Way connector installed you most likely have one of 3 wiring situations on your trailer. The first, and most likely, is that your trailer has electric brakes and a power wire to maintain a battery for auxiliary functions. The second is that you have the same power wire and backup lights at the rear of the trailer. The third, and least likely but possible, is that your trailer has hydraulic surge brakes and a coupler with electric backup lockout. If your trailer...

  • Switching An Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Set Up To Surge Brakes
Hi Scott! You can do either! The brake controller option would be the way I would go though as you wouldn't have to bleed the brakes (which is a pain in the butt) and it can be used with other trailers that have electric or electric over hydraulic brakes (plus it works better than surge brakes). For that, you will only need a few things, but I wanted to ask a few things first. Are you sure it's a 6-pin plug? They aren't used very often, but will still work. I included a picture showing...

The part # 37175 could be used to adapt your 4-way to a 6-way, but you will be required to track down several other components so that you can make the connector functional and to install a brake controller. A better product to get would be the part # ETBC6 as it comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 6-way and wire up a brake controller. If the trailer connector on your 1993 Ford F-250 is a factory installed connector then the truck should have the wiring already run for a brake controller. A brake controller would plug into the truck to the connector that is under the dash around the steering column. It is a 4-pin connector with a mating end that will fit onto # 20262. The procedure for installing a brake controller in your van will depend on what (if any) trailer connector is on the vehicle. If the van has the factory installed 7-way or 4-way connector, there will be a port under the dash for installing a brake controller. You will need the brake controller wiring adapter, part # 3035-S. It sounds to me like the previous owner did not wire his home made trailer connector properly.
