Question:

Im purchasing a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite with an existing etrailer e98951 Invisible Baseplate, manufactured by Demco. I plan to purchase Demco DM86MV replacement attachment tabs and the Roadmaster Nighthawk RM-677, which has Blue Ox-style connection ends. Can you confirm in writing that the RM-677 attaches directly to the DM86MV tabs on the e98951 baseplate, without any additional adapter? Also, is the RM-677 currently in stock, and can you confirm that the unit supplied will have the required corrective work completed for Roadmaster recall 26E069, if applicable? Thank you.

Hi Thomas,

Congratulations on your new Jeep Cherokee!

I can confirm for you that the Demco and etrailer Replacement Base Plate Tabs part # DM86MV will fit the etrailer base plates part # e98951.

However, the Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar part # RM-677 will not work with etrailer or Demco base plates as the swivel gears on the end of the tow bar don't fit the style of tabs that the etrailer and Demco base plates use. Instead, you'll need the Roadmaster Nighthawk Tow Bar part # RM-676 and the etraielr Roadmaster Sterling and Nighthawk Tow Bar Adapter Brackets part # e98984 to make the Nighthawk compatible with the etrailer base plates.

I did confirm that our stock was not affected by the recall 26E069 so you can safely order a Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar from us.

Are you switching from an older tow vehicle to the Jeep?

Hi! No, this is our first toad. We're purchasing from a gentleman who has already converted the Jeep. I've put these in my cart. I believe this is what I will need to connect. @ThomasN Getting your first toad is exciting! With a Blue Ox Avail part @ BX7420 instead of the Roadmaster Nighthawk, you'll be able to hook up to the etrailer base plates with the Demco/etrailer tabs part # DM86MV no problem! The Blue Ox 7-way to 6-round cable part # BX88206 will fit perfectly between the motorhome and Jeep as long as the Jeep already has the 6-round installed. Since the Jeep was already flat towed before, it should have the wiring installed for the lights already, but it can't hurt to double check. Do you have a braking system picked out for it yet?

@ClaireH Yes, I need to install a US Gear D-Celerator TC-6000 supplemental brake controller for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that already has the US Gear Unified Tow Brake system installed. I have been chatting with Brandon P to try to get that figured out.
