The # DM8550045 and # DM8550045-5W are exactly the same thing.

The only difference between the two is the part number which is honestly more of an internal thing. Basically, we market it as a 5th wheel hitch and as a gooseneck to 5th wheel adapter. Its really just a workaround so we can have it in two different product groups. I can assure you both parts are exactly the same, its just how we list certain 5th wheel hitches. We do the same thing for the B&W ones too.

HELP! I am confused by the answer here. Both DM8550045 and the DM8550045-5w look like they attach to a gooseneck ball. Neither hitch look likes it needs "...a different rail or puck system in your truck like the # DM8550045-5W would require." Can you help me understand the difference between the two hitches?

@BrianL Hey Brian, thanks for reaching out. The # DM8550045 and # DM8550045-5W are exactly the same thing. I'm not sure what Kevin was looking at when he wrote the answer above but it'd definitely inaccurate. The only difference between the two is the part number which is honestly more of an internal thing. Basically, we market it as a 5th wheel hitch and as a gooseneck to 5th wheel adapter.
