If you’ve already got a gooseneck setup and want to tow a fifth wheel, this adapter makes the change quick. The Demco Recon connects directly to a standard 2-5/16" gooseneck ball—no drilling, rails, or extra parts needed. It’s built in two lightweight pieces that drop into place fast: the base locks onto your ball, and the head slides in and secures with a pin. You can attach or remove it on your own and still clear out your bed when you’re not towing.
The single-piece wraparound jaw gives full 360-degree contact on the king pin for a solid grip. A 3/4" thick solid steel locking bar reinforces the connection so you don’t have to worry about accidental uncoupling. The tight jaw fit cuts down on rattle and chucking, so your ride feels steadier and quieter than hitches that use slide-bar jaws. When you couple up, the locking bar automatically snaps into place so you know it’s secure.
The hitch head pivots both front-to-back and side-to-side to line up easily when you back under your trailer. Built-in polyurethane dampeners cushion the side-to-side movement of the head, helping absorb road shock and reduce noise while towing. Whether you’re hitching on level pavement or a rough lot, the double-pivot head keeps things smooth and stable.
Getting your trailer level is easy with three height settings—15-1/2", 17-1/4", and 18". The base also includes a built-in 3" offset that provides added clearance between cab and trailer. Once locked in position, the setup stays tight thanks to a bolt that removes any play between head and base.
The Demco Recon is made from sturdy steel with a black powder coat finish that resists rust and wear. It’s tested for up to 21,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 4,000 lb vertical load limit, giving you confidence when hauling heavy fifth wheel trailers. Even with that strength, its simple two-piece design keeps it manageable to handle when it’s time to install or remove.

Ive owned it and used it for a year now and still highly recommend it to anyone with a Gooseneck hitch in their rig. Id add some pics showing how level everything sits, but not sure how to do that now.

This product is far superior than the rest of the other adapters. It mounts on the gooseneck easy and even if I didnt have a gooseneck trailer or gooseneck hitch on my truck this product is better than any other fifth wheel than that Ive had in the past. Plus it gives me the best of both ways to haul any trailer.??

It worked fine while I had it, but upgraded to a Goose Box. The hitch was simple to use, but still rough with a rigid pin box. Also wanted to use the space in my truck bed without having to remove the hitch.

I would like to add to my 1 year review. Installation was very straight forward and simple. The only thing I did different was to drill a 716 hole on each side rail, into the channel beam that my gooseneck ball is mounted in. This added a little security to the mount but mainly, made it a bit more of a challenge to steal the unit. I do have to take the two bolts out to remove the hitch but only adds about 10 minutes to the process.

Hey Alex! Thanks for taking the time to leave your review and include a pic of your set up! I did some searching and I think the little blue part your are referring to is the urethane pivot bumper. That should go on the underside of the 5th wheel head yoke. I linked the instructions if you want to get a better idea of where it goes. You can see the blown out view on the last page.
